This is my uncle's account of his time on board USS Nevada (SSBN-733) during a week long tiger cruise from San Diego, CA to Bangor, WA. This also happened to be my last time ever underway on a…Continue

Today is my son's last day in the USN. He performed his five year contract for submarines and decided that was enough for him. I tried to convince him to stay in, as did his cousin and an uncle…Continue

Dan, I don't know why your son discouraged mail. You can email him all you like, and they recieve all of our emails I believe, but the sub doesn't transmit very often, so we don't recieve many in return. They did transmit emails for Thankgiving. After not recieving emails from our son, we were very relieved to recieve a call from him when they had their port call. There was a photo posted on the Navy's facebook page of the Alexandria pulling out of Greece. From what I understand, they are sometimes able to recieve snail mail when they make port calls. http://navylive.dodlive.mil/?p=14172
Phillip, our son has discouraged mail. He calls infrequently (he called a few weeks ago from Europe). I was wondering if he can email us from the sub.?
Wow, small world Dan Hall... My son is also on the Alexandria. He earned his dolphins months back and has just now made the petty officer list! Congrats Mike, it doesn't seem that long ago that my son graduated BESS...
Congrats, Mike. Our son is in his third year and currently on the USS Alexandria.
Just an update, the kid graduated BESS on 9/27, His whole immediate family attended the graduation. It was pretty cool. Then we visited the sub museum and toured the Nautilus while we waited in my son to check out. He was home with us to 2 weeks before shipping to The Pearl and this last Monday he put to sea in the USS Bremmerton, SSN 698. Hope his first deployment goes well and he earns his dolphins. We are certainly praying for him.
I finally heard from my son after almost 8 weeks of no sailor mail. They arrived in the Philippines 3days ago. It was great to hear from him.
Congratulations to your son KHK, that is quite an accomplishment!
Congrats to your sailor KHK.Tell him we are all proud of him.
Bravo Zulu to your submariner KHK!!!!
