Tim and GP,  Yes it is always great to see our sons when they have leave and can get "home".  Today is the 4th of July and always a day to say "Thank You!" to all who serve or have served.  Noon today brings the opening of a new microbrewery in Colorado Springs, Red Leg Brewing.  There motto is "Serving Those Who Serve"  I will be there with my official USS John C Stennis CVN 74 cap and thanking all those who serve.  Now if my youngest would just get me a cap from the USS Kentucky, I would have a set!

My son just left for Pearl after a two week leave. It was so good to have him home. Three more weeks left on his boat and then he's off to the east coast for a shore duty and an education.

Don:  I don't think Vegas has established them yet.  2 sons in the Navy.  God bless you and your family and when you next talk to your sons, tell them "thank you for their service" from me.  I don't think they hear that enough.

A first deployment must be exciting.  Congrats to your son!  My son is at his first assignment but stuck in dry dock for several months in Bremerton.  At least he is near his brother whose carrier is also in dry dock there.   Now what are the odds on two brothers both being in the same Naval yard in dry dock when one is on a boomer and the other on a carrier?

Haven't checked this page out in a long time.  My submariner's been back from his first deployment for about 2 months now.  I just have to tell the world that his mom and I are so proud of him.  God bless the submariners and their families.  We are all a special group.

Congrats on watching your son's boat come into Pearl.  I just did that with my oldest son on the USS John C Stennis and then did the Tiger Cruise back to San Diego.  Our youngest is on the USS Kentucky  which is in dry dock in Bremerton.  Right where the Stennis is now!  both sailors are staying in barracks next to each other.  What are the odds of that?!
