Tim, Once your son Ricky gets done with the Bess program, he will be able to move his wife to Groton with him. My son just moved his wife out there. The housing seems to be very nice. There does not seem to be much of a waiting list for housing. Best wishes to your son and family.

Dana, my son Ricky just graduated boot camp and will be headed to subschool. He is also married. Was military housing not offered to subschool students?

Our son is all finished in Groton and is here with us for a few days before going to his sub in Norfolk. He finished his last class as the top student, along with the previous one. He is anxious to get to Norfolk to get going on his quals. so he can earn his dolphins. He has been away from his wife and children since May so it will be good for them to be reunited again. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas....

That is cool that he gets to cchose. I have a buddcy who works with me and I believe thathe was a NAV/ET. I was a an EM/nuke. I would like to hear from any STS or FT to get their input about preference he should go with

As far as his rating he would get to choose....how long is up to him and the rating.

My son will be entering BESS following basic training and was enlisted under the SECcatagory of ratings. Does anyone have an idea of how long this training pipeline tends to run? At what point of BESS do the students know which specialty rating they ill be assigned?

Yes, Josh is happy to be through sub school, and now he has finished top of his class in the basic mechanical school. He is now in his aux tech school, and has already picked his sub, a boomer. It's in drydock for a while so when he finishes school he'll go to different sub, a fast attack, until his is ready. He is very excited about the idea that he may be able to earn his silver dolphins before he arrives at HIS sub! Things are moving fast!!
