Thanks Cheri, our son is level headed ... very hard to upset him ..he likes to follow orders and work hard .. always smiling. Good to know that he will be surrounded by the same.
We attended our son's PIR at RTC on 19-Jul. On Sat morning at 0615, He was on a plane with 11 (I think he said 11) others from his Training Group to Groton for BESS - which is scheduled for start on 4-Aug. His girlfriend was able to get him his phone and other "stuff" prior to his departure, so we are in contact with him. He is settled in, and Sunday was an exploration day at the base. 0700 on Mon is when they start a 2 week routine ahead of class - Does anyone know what they will be doing for 2 weeks?
Son has been in Groton for 2 weeks now. PIR was 6/7 and he was a "Grab-N-Go." We travelled from Calif. to Ill for the Graduation, wouldn't have missed it for anything. Had 8 hrs on Friday and another 6 hrs at O'Hare. Worth every second. Son is accomplishing all his tasks and assignments. Talk or text every day or every other day, what a huige difference. Proud of all our young people. What an adventure. No questions yet, but I know I can count on you all when I do.
Just returned from BESS graduation this past Friday. Evan graduated well placed in the class. Was very impressed with the entire operation.
I live two miles from the Sub Base in Groton. If anyone has questions about the area feel free to contact me
John - BESS graduation is worth going to. Your sailor will be glad to see you. It is not anything like PIR, but still worthwhile. After that it is A school graduation. We will be going out in March for that one too. Life at Groton is very different from RTC. My son is very laid back and he has adapted quite well to sub base life while in school there.
