Save the Clamagore:

The USS Clamagore SS-343 is in danger of being sunk if needed repairs are not made to this guppy class submarine located at Patriots Point Charleston SC. Please pass this on to all your Submariners so they can help save this ship. Here is the link:

Mauricio,  I lived in Guam for a couple of years in the late 1960's while my dad was stationed there.  I don't remember much because I was just 4 and 5 years old at the time.  But I do remember that it was tropical and I remember swimming out to the coral reefs with my family to look for seashells.  I wish I could tell you more, but I think your son will like it there.

Hi Maurice,

I don't know about Navy, but I have a nephew in the Air Force whois currently stationed there.  He loves it!

My son just found out that he will be stationed in Guam. Does anyone know what is like to live in Guam?

Pete, small world, we live in L'Anse, I worked at MTU's Central Heating Plant for 5 years, manage the Power Plant in L'Anse now; most of our Admin staff work in White Pine and live in Ironwood, Bessemer, Bergland.... I know a few other folks from Wakefield. I was going to say I was a Yooper, but 9 out of 10 wouldn't have a clue, lol.

Darryl-  Saw your post.  My wife is from Wakefield, Mi (western end near Ironwood) and we went to Michigan Tech.

Our son arrived at BESS in May 2011, we went to BESS graduation in July, he did get to come home for a quick trip over Labor Day in September, then he was home for 10 days over Christmas/New Years holiday. We live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Your sailor does need to be in good standing and well organized for a trip home prior to being approved for Leave, and it is all about their school schedules, some get lucky, some don't. Hope all goes well for your sailor!
