I believe I have been approved for a Tiger Cruise do to OPSEC I will not say exactly when.. But leaving out of Mayport... There has been rumors of a shuttle from the airport.

Any one have a clue on the sched of the shuttle? My sponsor has not been informed so I thought I would give this a try... Any info would be great... But remember OPSEC

Jim, do you have Facebook access? They just posted a Tiger Cruise FAQ in the Ike Page, it will answer your questions I think! Here's the link:

thee is a shuttle from the airport to your hotel. Just look for people walking around the airport by the baggage pickup.

When last year I did the TC out of Mayport -- I took Amtrak first class sleeper to JAX, and city bus to check in at the airport - at the airport there were helpful volunteers. Stayed one night at a riverfront hotel -- real good food at the riverfront.
But I spent one night downtown JAX hotel, and rode the city bus at 0600 (cheapskate me) to mayport - arrived in an early morning thunderstorm - met my sailor at the McD on the base

-- I ride local transit whenever I can, get in touch with the local scene.

Didn't even consider the shuttles and cabs at $50 -- took the city bus to the base for $2, and met some locals working on the base.

Lots of ways to get from JAX to Mayport - walking the 20 miles is not an option.

And the Tiger Cruise was - AMAZING- get there however - but BE there.

DO IT - and advise all your sailors friends and relations to GO FOR it.

Take the cheapest bus. Or cheapest airfare. Sleep overnight on the street and take the dollar city bus to Mayport -- BE there. Best 3 days I ever spent.

I recently returned from a TC, we took (free) airport shuttle to our hotel, then the free shuttle back to the airport to pick up the Navy shuttle to the ship. They ran 2-3 shuttles all morning until they picked us all up. They made sure to always have a shuttle there, so they were easy to find. You are in good hands with our Navy!!
