before ya'll go believing all that you hear, check out snopes.com

there are a TON of stories out there that sound wonderful...and I've been burned by a number that have proved to be false....if it sounds too good to be true, snopes.com is a good way to verify

What a wonderful story ! this just shows how great our son and daughters are ! all of us here at NAVY DADS can and should be proud of them .
When you hear of all the bad things that our younger generation is doing this is one of the great stories that give you hope and pride.
To all of you parents on this web site THANK YOU for a JOB WELL DONE !
in raising some great kids !

I ran across this about a year ago...at that time the video was posted on the internet. I think the summary from the website homepage says it all:

In a war that has left more than 25,000 wounded, ALIVE DAY MEMORIES: HOME FROM IRAQ looks at a new generation of veterans. Executive Producer James Gandolfini interviews ten Soldiers and Marines who reveal their feelings on their future, their severe disabilities and their devotion to America. The documentary surveys the physical and emotional cost of war through memories of their "alive day," the day they narrowly escaped death in Iraq.

This project's executive producer is James Galdolfini and can be very depressing while at the same time be very inspirational. There are a number of stories you can investigate through the main page-- it may not be for everyone, but I personally found it very moving in that it speaks volumes about the dedication and committment that our troops have and as a reminder that what we ask of those troops is not to be taken lightly.

I received an e-mail from a dear friend of mine today with a link to avdeo he thought I might enjoy. It's not about sailors, but I found it moving because it speaks to what has been called "the greaest generation" did and legacy they leave. I note reports that World War II vets are dying at a rate of 1000 a day...with them go much of the history they helped make.
