There will be a hospitality tent set up before you go on the pier, will have food, beverages and I think fans inside....I'm sure food is while it lasts. there should be large fans set up along the pier but I'm not sure. Bleachers will be set up as far as Air Conditioning is concerned, I was told that the IKE pays for the homecomings so the tents, food, drinks, bleachers...everything is paid for by the command, it just depends on the amount of money that they have to spend. No coolers are allowed (the soft small over the shoulder ones are ok) they are bulky, big and cause tripping hazards. No alcohol, balloons or streamers are allowed and all bags, small soft coolers are subject to search. Getting there early is a good idea because the chance of having a better parking spot Is good so you don't have to go so far to walk back to the car and sit in the Air Conditioning. At the same time this means you are going to be out there longer and small children get fussy when they get bored. WEAR PLENTY OF SUNSCREEN! I hope this helps..

Forrest, by watching the livestream in December, I do know there are bleachers. As far as out of the sun, don't know. From visiting, pretty much the other side of the pier is a huge parking lot with a McDonald's plopped down like Dorothy's house in the Wizard of Oz. Who got that deal I wonder?

Anyway, I know they set up food and things, perhaps there will be tents and chairs too....

Jeff, Thank you for saying that...  I am SO proud of my Sailor....

Question: My 83 old father and 1 year old niece want to be on the pier when IKE returns.  Is there a place for them to get out of the heat and sit down?

I don't really comment to much on here although I follow all your posts. But today I would like to wish all the dads out there A Very Happy Fathers Day. You all did a hell of a job raising your children and that's obvious on their willing to serve. Great Job Guys,

Your sailor adds your name(s) to a list for the gate. Show ID, give sailors name. That's it! Much easier for homecoming :)

How does one arrange to get on base to meet them when they return ?

Just talked to my sailor :) and he was telling me all about the practice today for the Air Show for the Tiger Cruise! It sounds AWESOME! But I'm not going to spill the beans to those who are going. Very jealous, I am! Suffice it to say, it will be quite an experience!

Flights are set, Hotels are set, and my daughter might even get leave and be able to come home with with us after the Tiger Cruise.  Would that be great to have her home to celebrate her 21st birthday only days after the TC.
