If you can't get a room at the Navy Lodge try the Holiday Inn on Greenwich Blvd in Norfolk. Is been newly renovated and it is super nice and I usually stay at The Hilton Garden Inn when I go out of town... I'm here in Virginia Beach and if you want to stay in the Beach stay close to Towne Center because that's where you have close access to the interstate. No matter what you do the day they port is always hard to get on the bar because it is busy but it takes like fifteen to twenty minutes to get there from here, just depends on the time of day

For those who are going on tiger cruise. I work for a company that offers a special rate for transportation from Jacksonville intl. Airport to the Mayport/beaches area hotels. I can be reached at 904-962-7053
If you would like to book transportation. My company also has drivers who have base access to get you to the ship the day of the cruise.

Misty, try the Navy Lodge if they still have rooms! Its close to base. Or you could stay on Virginia Beach, the only long drive would be to the base to see them come in, but once he's in, nice beach time! That's what I am doing. Lots of hotels on the beach.

id like to surprise my sailor, not asking for dates but I'm west coast and we our info is scarce,any hotel suggestions. this will be first time there

Wow, this is crazy but I do know that southwest had some cheap flights if you book online around the time frame... I'm respecting OPSEC SO I'm just glad they're on schedule
