probably on Livestream but have no details
I hope so Forrest. I hope they stick to the origional plan on this deployment and don't keep them out longer than this cruise is scheduled for. My husband does keep telling me that the return date is still firm but since the day he joined I have been reminded time and time again that everything is subject to change. I guess for me, I have to get the mindset for another extensive deployment and hope for them to stay with the origional plans. Everything is so up in the air right now, they have to pass this budget soon! Not just our sailors are effected by this but all those jobs at the ship yards...over 40,000 people are getting ready to face layoffs..no ships to overhaul, no work.
I was told there was a pretty firm return date already set in place for IKE, at least that's what the Sailors are being told. The word is that IKE will be sailing under the old budget and will not be affected by recent DoD woe's.
cruise is typically 6 but more like 7 months anyway.....
I understand the repairs have been competed on the USS Eisenhower and it is still on schedule to relieve the USS Stennis soon. Apparently its deployment is covered under last year's budget.
add this to your list Jim:
The midlife overhaul of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, currently nearing completion at Newport News Shipbuilding, will be delayed if the federal budget crisis persists, Navy leaders said Tuesday.
In testimony submitted to the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Navy's top uniformed officer said work would temporarily cease on the Roosevelt if the Navy continued operating under last year's budget resolution.
This was my home from '87 thru '91.
ept1974 That's great news. They DO walk a little taller don't they? So much confidence...
