Brian, It was supposed to be a nine month deployment, they left out June 20th, but as of right now there is not a set date to my knowledge. They will be porting soon though.

Hey Brian, Just wanted to let you know I'm here in Va Beach and been here since Jan 2011 and it took me a while to make friends. I actually finally made some about four months ago and it was really lonely before that, but you can't let it get you down. I made friends with parents of the children that come to my home and play, and being parents we have similar interests. The only thing I'm still having a problem with here is the crime rate...I'm from Pensacola so this is a VERY different place. But, don't give in to being stuck at home and it'll get better!!!

Hello Brian,  Welcome to the site and to Norfolk.  I am sorry you will be without your wife for a while.  These are the sacrifices most people don't realize goes on with the families of deployed military.  Its hard being out of touch with my son for so long, I really can't imagine having a spouse deployed.  Please check in often and let us know how you are doing.  This site has been GREAT for me and the people in here understand what you are going through.

Hang in there my friend, and again, welcome aboard!

Has anyone else seen the pictures of our SAILORS having fun swimming in the ocean and jumping overboard.Sure looks like fun,our son said the water temp. was around 85,almost bath water temp.,sure hope they enjoyed it LORD knows they earned it.GOD BLESS OUR SAILORS.

That was an amazing video, and to think our sailors got to be a part of that.  I asked my son about what all cool things he has gotten to see while on this cruise.  He said, by FAR, the passing of the Enterprise was the most meaningful.

Thank you for all your years of service Enterprise!
