This is the last time that the IKE and BIG E will be in the same place at the same time due to the BIG E is going into retirement,so this is pretty neat.GOD BLESS OUR SAILORS.

Allen & Paul Thanks for the info.  My son spent a lot of time TAD on the  2 month long cruises that they did prior to this one.  He was called off TAD early to work his rate, so I assumed it was over, but apparently he had more time to make up there.  Thanks again for the info.

all sailors get to do their time in S2 doing what they lovingly call "cranking"......mess duty...not pleasant, but a needed duty cycle....ask your sailor about "cranking" and see what he says!!!!

So, what does it mean to go TAD?  Is that a normal rotation for a new sailor?

ShaBar  Good morning,  I just went to walmart.com and didn't see where I could do that.  Is the option to send to the FPO after the order is placed??  Thanks for your help.

Your son should forward all the required info to you...but keep after him!  Is is easy between duty and watch to let some of those go a day or two and before you know it you are scrambling.  I'm sure it will be  memory trip for you what with your years in the Navy, but seeing it from a parents eyes is a new experience altogether.....be sure to spend time in the Tiger Cruise group (there is a link in the Groups tab on the main menu bar at the top of the page).....a bunch of posts and suggestions there

Thanks for all the comments, and your Blog post Paul. Very informative. Being Ex-Navy myself and serving on a Destroyer during the early to Mid 80's, I feel so much pride for my Son who is following in my foot steps. I cannot think of anything in this world that I would rather do than spend a few days on a Tiger cruise with him and re live some of my memories as well as make some new ones. And to be able to do that on the Ike would be a great experience for me. I am already planning on a week or so off from work so that I can take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. And like Allen said, I am packed already :)

Im sure there are forms to be filled out, and lots of things to do prior. Are these all things that my son needs to set up, and forward to me etc?

you can read through my blogs about my cruise on "The Big Stick" a couple of years ago and get the idea of what it is like:

I just heard this from my hubby tonight-ok, so he said that you can go to walmart.com and buy some grocey items online and they will ship it to them and i tried it and they gave me free shipping on the order! This is going to make sending his care packages sooo much easier
