Thanks for the good advice Paul.
I am staying at the Wyndham at the Jacksonville airport and will be taking a taxi to the ship. Anyone need a ride?

for you Tiger Cruise folks:

Just a general word of advice from someone that has been there....you'll go crazy trying to photograph everything and experience it all at once....take the time to savor it!!!  Breathe the air and take a minute to reflect on what you are experiencing and where you are....those memories will leave a lasting impression. Watch your sailors and his/her shipmates.....talk to people and take time to watch the waves.  You'll probably never get another chance to feel the air on your face from the deck or elevator on a Nimitz-class carrier so listen to the sounds of the hull as it slices though the water and the color of the water- you'll be surprised at how deep blue it is once you get offshore a ways.  Notice how the deck moves and the smells and sights and sounds of flight ops.  Live the experience....I was so hung up on getting the pics that at first I think missed a lot.....most of all, enjoy the time you get with your sailor.  Second night my son and I just sat and talked about a million different things.....one of the best times ever for me!!!!

Hope everyone who can make it to the homecoming can.  I hope I can make it next time.

As a enlisted member of the navy I would just like everyone to know that the navy releases the date of the homecoming 2-8 days before the homecoming so that family and friends can get the day off work and plan travel arrangements. OPSEC is a very important thing but the navy releases the date when the ship reaches United States territory so the ship is safer.

understood John....just trying to make some humor at weather folks expense......as a scientist I know how complex weather systems are and the addition of chaotic factors makes predicting weather particularly tough.....no offense was intended!!! If truth be known, I am pretty amazed at how accurate 3-5 day forecasts really are....

Hear that bro.....when you want them to be wrong they never are and when you want them to be right they are always wrong......what a racket!!! Get paid to be wrong all the time!!!!

Will do my best at sending some rain but cant promise anything plus you know how weather reporters are they can lie about it raining and it never happen so who knows it may not even rain that day
