I hear ya Jerry...Paul is on his second dep. with the Ike. It seems like they just got back and BOOM...they are gone again. This time mom is not taking no for an answer...I will be there when the ship pulls in. I wish I could do the Tiger Cruise but I know Paul will say no. He is always so busy. Plus I know that he doesn't want to worry about Mom being bored...as if I couldn't make friends or talk to any of the other parents...LOL!!! If he only knew.....

It was great to be able to have a small breakfast with my daughter, spend a few minuted with them before they left. I will be anxiously awaiting their safe return home.

I have two sailors, 1 on the ike, the other a seabee, my seabee is scheduled to head for Afganistan sometime next month. This is going to be a hard 6 to 8 months for me. Nice to know there are people out there to share some of the happy and sad times with.

I've had two sailors ship out over the past two years...it's tough, but you can look forward to homecoming and a Tiger Cruise!! Stop by the Care Packages group...we've discussed stuff to send in those care packages that your sailor looks forward to.

I would love to see some pics too. My son thought it would be better if wife was not there to watch them pull out. I am in Michigan and could not be there with her.

Hey Carl...pictures would be awesome! I live in Oregon was not able to see the ship off. If you could post some that would be so nice. Thanks...

Well it was a very cold day to watch them sail away. It was way to cold for them to "man the rails"! I think the wind chill was at 15f. We got to do a little tour, and take some photos. I liked how they had the hanger deck so that family could come aboard and have breakfast with the sailors before they left. I will try to post some pictures.

the big no-no is posting dates for arrivials and departures. The general rule..if in doubt, err on on the side of caution and be general in the info posted. You'll get used to only getting general comments from your sailors as they go on cruise...I've had my share over the years!!

Terri, your correct LOOSE LIPS SINKS SHIPS ,I'll try not to be so dumb next time thanks for your input.

Hi Lowell...you didn't offend me at all. I just know that we are specifically told not to talk about stuff like that and I just wanted the "newbies" to know that we shouldn't do it. When I get asked about where my son is or if or when he is leaving I am ALWAYS very general about it. I will say something like..." he is scheduled to leave some time in January." Or "yes, they are going on cruise again to the Med." The people that have the details or need to know any details already do, right? The rest of the people can find out on their own and not from me. I don't want to make anyone here mad or upset anyone here but as a former Navy sailor, former Navy wife and a Navy mom, I respect the whole need to know routine and understand why it is the way it is. Please don't think that I am upset. I was just reiterating the need for discretion. :)
