that is exactly correct....regardless of how the package arrives at a FPO (fleet post office) it is all handled the same after.  Extra postage for rapid shipping does essentially nothing to hurry the process along.

Thank You Forrest! Good to know that the extra money only pays to get it to New York. I wondered how they got them there..I figured it was via miliatary transport...Kimberly...I'll be praying for your sons safety along with all of our sailors on the IKE.

You have the choice, but that onlly gets your package to New Your sooner.  After that it flies on a military transport and they go when they go.  Then the packages are grouped and either put on a cod, whenever THEY fly, or a supply ship.

MY son MAY have received his missing box yesterday from weeks ago.  Seems like they were backlogged a bit.

Thanks Amber..i don't know either that we have the choice.Actually,i just handed the package to the P.O clerk and just paid the amount of postage, without knowing if i am paying for flat rate, ordinary mail or priority. That was really aweful for a first timer like me.Well...slowly but surely,i am learning. Please find out what is the fastest way to mail our care package.

I got a message from my husband today...he got his care package!!!!! I'm soooo happy he finally got it! It took 3 weeks and 3 days to get there. I sent mine flat rate shipping...Elvie i didnt know that we had the choice on how to send them. I just thought flat rate shipping was the only way to go. I'll have to look into it and see how much more it costs but that sounds good to me the faster it can get there the better! I sent off another care package last week, we will see how long it takes to get to him.

Hello Everyone!!Praise the Lord! Finally, exactly one month today,my son got his care package.Yes,partly it's my fault, for sending Priority instead of express.I learned my lesson.Today I am shipping 2 packages with all the items he requested such as pens,Sharpies highlighters and markers.UnderArmour skullcaps wristband and headbands.Long black socks, and baby powder.I added few items such as cup of macaroni and cheese and cookies.Toiletries enough to get him by for few months.

He is an AD with the E-2C Hawkeye.  Mechanic below deck, but is in the process of QUAL for final inspector on deck.  Launched his first bird the other day and you would have thought he won the lottery.  Nearly blew him off the flight deck though..   lol   lol

Forrest Glass- what does your son do on the flight deck. Where and what job?
Comment by Forrest Glass on August 6, 2012 at 9:28pm

My son is an AD and received one.  I believe they were all issued one.  My son said it wasn't a high quality one, so Allen, your son will LOVE the one you sent.
