That's great Bob.  I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for your family's service.  This is all new to me, military life that is, so we have had to learn how to adjust, but through it all is, like you said, SO much pride in our boy for what he is doing.  I can tell you its changed me...

He is adjusting well Forrest. I think he is having a great time. Standing a lot of watches, and keeping really busy. He has been on deck, wathcing Dolphins etc. I am a Navy Vet so I remember those peaceful times standing on the deck at sunset and watching the Dolphins, Whales etc. Great Times and lots of memories. Mom and Dad are missing him big time, especially as he is our only child. But we couldnt be prouder. And we are so happy for this great experience for him.

So glad he's up and running Bob.  How is he adjusting to ship life?  How are Mom and Dad, you guys holding up?

Thanks Bill. I just tried his email again and it went through, Go figure??

But Thanks guys for your help. It appears as though it is working now.

Bob- My son is with the Air Wing, and I know that when he deployed, it took about 4 days for his email to come online. Even though he was on the Ike for the previous cruises, it takes some time for them to re-activate the email. I would wait about a week from the time he reported on board, and then try again. Obviously, if you get one from him, you know it's up. I know it's tough not hearing, but it will get better.

What is your sailor's last name and where is he working?  I can get my son to set him up on ship's e-mail.

Forrest,

No he has not emailed me from the ship yet. My email keeps getting kicked back saying it couldnt be delivered. Also says denied by policy, service not available.

Bob,  The only issues I have had with e-mails is file size.  I have been able to get a picture across, but those usually come back.  If you get the e-mail back, chances are he didn't get to see what you sent.  Has your son e-mailed you from the ship yet?

They shut the phones off from time to time based on where they are, but I have always been able to send and receive e-mails.

NavyDads Admin Paul would probably be the one to ask.  He has been MOST helpful to me with these questions.

My son just checked on board Ike a week ago. He was flown to meet up with the ship. He called this morning at 0530 (our time). This is his first duty station, and of course his first deployment. Lots of new things to learn for both him and myself. I have read the comments about email's being kicked back etc. I sent one and of course it was kicked back. Does this mean that they will not get that email and you have to keep trying to send?
