Understand Ric......tough times all around. Thank goodness for things like SKYPE and the web!!!!
Sorry for running "silent" Paul, but not much I can comment on in here without getting political or exposing GW status. My son was finally granted leave for 10 days in April (cancelled over Christmas due to the N. Korean launch) so he could come stateside, see his twin daughters (after not seeing them for 2 1/2 years), take care of some overdue business and leave. I don't live in the same part of the nation where the twins live, so I was only able to get a web/video conference in with them. I haven't had a chance to hug him in 6 years. Hard to since there is much they can't openly discuss without compromising "the line".
Sorry, not much activity will our son being back on dry land. He has received orders and will be leaving the GW and Japan late summer. He got orders to a squadron after A school stateside and we will get to see him for the first time in 2+ years before reporting.
Will the Gw be decomissioned in less than 4 years?

Congrats to all of these sailors that were promoted. On another subject, as a members of this great sight, want to share the proud moment for Galveston Island, my hometown where I still work on a bascule lift span, that the Navy's littoral combat ship, USS Fort Worth will be commission on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Galveston Isle is gearing up for this gran event. Thebship's coat of arms includes the Texas Flag, a Texas longhorn and the motto, "Grit and Tenacity. Go USS Fort Worth. You can read more on this on the Galveston Daily News web sight. GO Navy.
Thanks a ton Elliott! I found great picsof him and the crew.

9.19.12 Good day all. I know that several weeks ago, some were chosen and promoted to Chief Petty Officer. My son James was one of them. I have heard very little from him and was wondering if anyone out there has a son or daughter on the USS George Washington that may know him. I haven't seen any pictures posted of the promotions or the like. So if it is not too much trouble, please send my request to have James Frost contact his dad.
Thanks.
Ric
