Wish I could attend the Family Cruise day on the GW.  Just not in the budget this year.  Anyone going ?

Cora, I asked my sailor whether she had received the packages I sent to her and her boyfriend. She said they had not received them. She also said that mail was not being delivered. She had heard there is a lot of mail stacked up. Now whether it is just the air wing or whether it is a common problem, I don't know. I agree it does cost money and it is upsetting when the mail does not come through. I do know that on the last deployment a load of mail went into the ocean while being transferred onto the GW.

I recall being underway for 66 days straight on my first submarine, so I know how they feel!  It is always nice to pul into port after a long underway...my son called us out of the blue on his first night on liberty and it was so great to hear his voice!  Praying that all goes well, and everyone stays out of trouble.  Looking forward to being able to skype with him again when they finally return to homeport.

Nice to see the GW has a port visit in Thailand.  The press release said they've been at sea 56 days. Seems like they are long overdue for some down time.

  Cora

I'm sure she is doing fine. My son said that they were real busy. I have'nt heard from him again since the last call a couple weeks ago.

Woke up this morning with a phone call from my son on the GW. Great way to wake up. The first I have heard from him since they were deployed and I never thought the first time I would hear from him would be by phone. I have been checking e-mail everyday.Anyhow he sounds great and happy and said it's not as bad as he thought it would be. He said he works 15 hour days but he can handle it. Also said he would call again tomorrow.

P.s he said he was able to pet a baby tiger. Where that happened he did'nt say. He said he can't tell us where he is.

Cora, my g'daughter is also in your daughter's squadron.  I have received a couple short e-mails.  In one she said she is busy beyond busy.  I did receive a very short one today apologizing for not writing and saying she is so busy.  Do you want me to tell your sailor to write a quick note?

Thanks guys, I went ahead and activated one of our extra phones for international calling and also gave him text messaging until he gets a better plan locally when ashore. we have setup the home and my laptop with skype, so we should have him covered for a while until he is afloat. Just left him a few hours ago at the airport and he is in transit. looking forward to keeping tabs on him when possible and sharing with the group. thanks again!

Stoney- a cell phone will cost alot of money. My son stays in touch useing skype on the computer. You get to see him to and it's free. You just need to work out times that will work for both of you. It looks like that option does'nt work when they are out to sea. I have'nt heard from him since he went out on the Washinton in early June.
