As you may know, the Eisenhower Strike Group left Norfolk yesterday headed to the Persian/Arabian Gulf to eventually relieve the HST. Any predictions as to when CVN75 will arrive home?
By the way, in discussion with our son, do not be surprised if the Truman is extended an additional 30 days beyond the first 30.
Not sure about the leave issue, but I doubt it due to transportation difficulties. Someone else may know for sure. The Truman will return to Norfolk, and yes, families can meet the ship if they so desire.
I have three questions:
1. Can a sailor take leave when the ship is deployed?
2. After deployment does the ship come back to Norfolk?
3. Do parents and friends normally meet the ship when it comes back to Norfolk?
Just in case you haven't heard, the Truman's deployment has been lengthened to an additional 30 days.
Well, he got all three packages so we are happy. It took a little over two weeks so not too bad.
All I can say is that we have sent our son at least a dozen packages, and he has received all of them. Slow at first, but lately it seemed to be a 2 week delivery interval. With the ship in Bahrain, probably a mail delivery will definitely occur.
Mail is a HUGE logistical issue with carriers- it'll get there but will take a few weeks....patience. Read about the Nimitz getting 21,000 pounds of mail A WEEK :

I did send USPS a request to let me know where it is, if it left Chicago. No reply yet but we are at about two weeks now so we will see.
Seems that they are currently in bahrain for a little R&R.
