I just wanted to say thank you for this website and for us family members to be able to keep up with our loved ones on the ship.

Congrats....he's going to love the ship. If he just got there, then he was introduced by a COD to the business end of Truman. That in itself is an experience. Great ship, great crew and my son tells me the food ain't half bad. Team Truman has a very proud tradition and they work hard as a team to get the job done, and done right. He will settle in very quickly. Hooyah! Give 'em Hell, Harry Welcome to our little group.

My son got to the Truman this week. I’m so proud of him: this is his first deployment. God bless him and all the sailors oversea. Thank you, so much, for your service to our nation. Honor, Courage and Commitment.

I don't normally do this sort of thing, but I want to share with all the Truman families something I just now sent my son in an email.

"On a serious note. I realize it is hard to be away from home during any holiday, but especially this one. Our enemies relish the thought of causing us harm on our country's birthday, our day of freedom, so keep a sharp eye out. I know Team Truman will stand the ready, but it will be a tough day none the less. I am so very proud of you son. You are doing what 98% of our young people would not do... be away from home protecting our Nation and your loved ones from harm on a day like the 4th of July. Stand your watch proudly. You deserve all the credit given to you, all the sailors aboard the Truman as well as all our armed forces do. Give 'em Hell, Harry.

Fair winds and following seas....

Love you son, take care.

Dad"

I do want to say that I am proud of all our sailors, especially the ones deployed right now, and of course I'm very fond of Team Truman. I wish all your sailors well during this time of celebration of our freedoms, God Bless them all!

Those pics are cool!!!! Ain't it great the way they stack those Hornet's in place? Really neat.

It was a really exciting sight to watch the strike group get underway. Got to be with my son before he went aboard for the final time. He manned the rails, but I couldn't see him from where I was standing on the pier. I did take a ton of pictures and video and at an appropriate time will post them. It was pretty neat watching the tugs "bump" their way around the ship as each line was dropped and then see her get underway on her own power. It doesn't seem to matter how many times you see this great ship, each time is special and gives you goose bumps all over. Watching her leave as "Anchor's Away" plays in the background is an absolute head rush. TJ, no need to feel jealous, there was enough love spreading round the pier for all our sailors. See ya on the cruise!!

I am really quiet jealous of all of you who could see your sailor off ... those of us who are from the west coast have a rougher go of it. I do intend to be there for the Tiger cruise however.

I got a note from my son yesterday. He passed his Crash & Salvage test and is having his board exam on June 7.
