I've heard that the Truman is at port, has anyone heard anything?

My Son said he slept through the Iranian exercise, Figured if there was an issue the ship would've sounded the alarm.

Stay sharp crew of CVN75. You're all over the national news with the Iranian's launching rockets within 1500 yards. WE are proud of you and pray for your safe and successful deployment. Happy New Year Crew!!! Polish up & test those Phalanx guns, awesome firepower

Technology can be great.  Got to Skype with my daughter while she was on liberty during first port call this weekend.  All was going well for her since they left Norfolk.  I don't think she has caught up with time changes though, she looked awful tired.  Congratulations to her also on ranking up to OS3!   Fair seas and Calm winds Truman!!

The Truman has deployed!

From the USS Truman FaceBook page

As many already know, last night there was an aircraft fire on the flight deck. The pilot of the aircraft ejected safely and landed on the flight deck. The pilot and a TRUMAN Sailor received medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries by the ship's medical department before being transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. Their families have been directly notified.

The important take-away is that all involved are going to be okay. Our tho...ughts and prayers are with our shipmates and their families, as we wish them speedy recoveries.

Our Sailors routinely train to many emergencies including flight deck fires. Flight Deck personnel, Medical, Engineering, the Bridge team and many more acted instinctively to immediately contain and then quickly extinguish the fire. I am very proud of their quick and professional responses.

We don’t anticipate any changes to our scheduled return to home port or upcoming deployment. We'll keep you updated as we find out more information.

Capt. Ryan B. Scholl

WAVY news out of Norfolk reported a fire on an aircraft on the deck of the Truman (CVN75) this morning.  2 sailors were injured but they are saying not seriously - thank God.  This is why they practice and practice....
