Been kind of quiet here - sailor is all settled in....He's pleased with his apartment in VA Beach. Now he's just anxious for things to start happening....
Anyone know if the Truman does a "Friends & Family" Day and when it might be if they have one?
Sailor made it to NY at midnight last night and his roommate made it in too. I guess now they are going to leave at 2am tomorrow for the drive to VA. I guess it's supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow and that is what they are counting on. Prayers for safe travels!
tell hm to watch the roads.....son lives in Newport News and he is very thankful to have a AWD Subaru right now......said it is very cold and slippery
Leave ends - sailor flies back to NY this afternoon to pick up his car & drives to VA tomorrow (along with his roommate) & he checks in next Thursday. They have an apartment lined up so hopefully that all comes together either tomorrow or Saturday. The journey continues!
All's well that ends well. Our son was met at the Norfolk airport by his sponsor and was transported directly to the Truman. Apparently at least initially he will be living on the ship rather than on shore. Not sure what his options are yet for enlisted barracks prior to deployment. I'm anxiously awaiting a report from him in the next day or two.
