Terry, even though your son is grad-go,were you all still planning on going?
I know our son was grad-go and we still went. PIR was just totally unbelieveable. As far as grad-go,we went to the airport right after graduation and were able to get a pass to join him behind the security points, have some lunch, sit and talk and see him off as he boarded the plane. For my family and I it was a most memorable experience and we would do it again under the same circumstances.
Best of luck.....

Steve !!!!!!!!

Yes, I'd be really interested to hear that too! Our's is coming up next Friday. Can't wait. Unfortunately, he is a grad-and-go.

Jim, congrats! That will be quite the time. Our son's PIR is the following week, 12/4. Would love to hear from you on how it went and what you thought.

One week from today and we'll be with our sailor Emerson. Can't wait to see him.

Jim.....God bless Emerson and his service. What a proud dad you must be of your son and daughter. My son David PIR ed October 16th and is now in A school in Pensacola....Tropical Storm IDA country.....PIR is a must for your family if at all possible. I hope Emerson is doing well and standing strong in boot camp. Veteran's day is even more special when one of our children is serving for sure. Take care.....Scott

My son (Emerson) has his PIR on Nov. 2oth and we're really looking forward to seeing him. I just returned from a middle school assembly (Lakota Middle School - Federal Way, WA) in honor of our fine veterans. My daughter was invited to get up in front of the entire student body and read aloud several letters received from Emerson while he's going through boot camp. It was a powerful experience and one that I'll never forget.

My ex (Seans mom) and his sister are going to the PIR, I would like to but not sure will be able to swing it. How long ago were you at the Yakima Firing Center? I was out there for awhile with the State Military Dept.

Yakima has all sorts of "issues" these days, I spent 10 years out at Hanford and was really glad to get out of there. Sean left on Oct 28 after being on DEP thing for almost a year. He has always liked to travel and see the country, after basic he heads to San Antonio for MA school. I am not sure we will be able to make it back to Great Lakes for the graduation but for sure am going to San Antonio when he completes that.

My maternal grandparents lived in Prosser so I spent quite a bit of time your area, it seemed like Yakima was a bigger deal than the Tri-Cities back then. I know of a St. John kid who ended up with shore duty in Norfolk but I haven't heard too much about how it is going for him. The Navy has been good for Cameron so far, but he was glad to get out of Great Lakes as his "A" school was there also.
