Hi Guys,

James you were asking about rates. My James' rate is CTM. He qualified for all of the CT jobs but didn't want to be at a desk so took the maintenance opening. Originally was looking at Seals & SWCC but got married last Spring and was afraid that he'd be away from wife and family (that he doesn't have yet) too much. As to speaking with, yes talked to him today. He's 3 weeks into classes. Initially all of the CTs are in ATT (apprentice technical training) for 2 months. Then they move to specialty from there (maintenance, network, intelligence, etc...) which is an additional 2 months. James told me that at present; it's a ton of math that he hasn't been exposed to before. He's testing well but it's a lot of new learning. By the way, all of this qualifies for hours towards a Bachelor's degree. His current thinking is to stay on for C school (if he qualifies) which is an additional 12 mo. of training which also supplies hours towards a degree. He thinks that he'll pass on to phase 3 as of this weekend. And Donald, it sounds like your sailor is very fortunate. We had heard of some RTC graduates waiting 2-3 mo. to class up in the past (via my wife from info gleaned from Navymoms.com). From what I get talking to James it sounds like the phase 2 / 3 is almost akin to life in college with a few evenings of PT and weekend duty thrown in. By the way, check out my post "A teacher who gets it" in the general forum if you get a chance. It really highlights why our kids are doing what they do; and why those of us on these forums are so supportive. Rick

I told Melissa.....Navy operates on a different level....not gonna treat the symptoms...they go straight to the desired outcome.  We are in Altamonte Springs technically.
