Con el conocimiento del itinerario de las naves o buques de guerra, todos debemos recordar las operaciones de seguridad (OPSEC) con el fin de proteger esta información y proteger a nuestros marineros de los que pueden usar la información del itinerario para propósitos dañinos. Información de los itinerarios de las naves nunca deben ir en un e-mail, por teléfono, en sitios de Internet, discutirlo en público o en Facebook, Twitter, etc HAY QUE PROTEGER EL ITINERARIO DE LAS NAVES.
A continuación se enumeran las reglas OPSEC, recuerde que mantener seguros y salvos a nuestros seres queridos es nuestra responsabilidad.
Reglas: OPSEC
• No hable de los destinos futuros o los puertos a donde se dirijan.
• No hable de futuras operaciones, ejercicios o misiones (incluyendo cruceros Día de la Familia)
• No hable de fechas y horarios de cuando estaremos en el puerto o la realización de ejercicios
• No discutir temas de preparación y grupos de naves
• No hable de equipos de formación específica o la falta de tales equipos.
• No especular sobre futuras operaciones
• No difundir rumores sobre operaciones del futuro, presente, o las operaciones pasadas
• No hable de fechas de despliegue o de regreso a casa
• No asuma que el enemigo no está tratando de recopilar información, siempre lo hacen
• No hable de procedimientos de seguridad, los movimientos, o las armas usadas
• Sea inteligente, use la cabeza, y siempre piense OPSEC al usar correo electrónico, teléfono, salas de chat y tableros de mensajes. No hay garantía de que una sala de chat o foro descrito como "militar" que tenga la seguridad de transmisión de información o pueda restringir la información personal militar y sus familiares
