Or, maybe somebody was pulling our leg....
Well, I have heard that some have been told where they are going after A school. However, Shane is also APACT, and therefore even if he goes to Pensacola first, it won't be for as long as a regular A school. Or, perhaps his 3-4 week classes are at Pt. Mugu, I don't know. I've talked to other parents who had their sailors go to Mississippi, Virginia, etc. right out of boot camp as well. So, not all go to Pensacola or stay at Great Lakes.
Just got a call from one of Shane's fellow recruits. For some reason he was tied up but the SR wanted us to know that Shane was told he is headed to Pt. Mugu for his first assignment. Not sure of any details, that is all we were told briefly and I don't know how he heard. Now I can't stand waiting for his phone call and PIR.
You only need that pass to physically park on the base for PIR- we recommend you take a shuttle as traffic can be nuts
Just a reminder, for those of you who will be driving to the PIR, you should be able to print your pass. You will need the password that was on the form letter.
Welcome to the group Jim :-)
David, there's a group on this site for PIR, a lot of great information. There's also a meet and greet the night before, Thursday 1/28. On the right side of the main page you'll see a group for that as well. It's free, but donations are accepted. Sarge, who hosts the meet and greet provides everything you need to know for PIR. I hear it's an event that you don't want to miss.
Did you check our PIR group?
My son is divided 081, ship 12 anyone have any info about attending pir.
I think blanket parties are a thing of the past.....even for those that need it.
