My son Shane is Ship 4, Division 84. Got a call from him on 12/26. He sounded a little strained but was making it through. He wasn't real thrilled with the food, but nevertheless, said that he measures his day by making it to chow times. That way the time goes faster. This was the first couple of weeks and I suspect that it has gotten more interesting now. He had to wait 5 days for the rest of the division to arrive but he said that gave him time to adjust. Looking forward to graduation. Seeing the pictures of him on the Facebook page was fantastic. I can't stop looking at them.
Hi Everyone, glad to hear we're all receiving letters, and that first phone call !! I received mine Sat morning, my son still sounded a little homesick but staying positive. He said my letters are really helping to keep him motivated ! So, keep those letters coming to your SR, they truly keep them going !!!
Also, if you liked the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command on FaceBook, do so. They took pictures of each of the Divisions and posted them on their FB page :-) My son was way in the back, but I could still see him and it was great to see them in their uniforms !
Steve, what is your son's name, since him and Tommy are in the same Division, maybe they can become friends and help keep each other motivated !
They should be starting their 4th week, almost half way there !!!!
Yes, fingers crossed for that perfect Christmas present for all of us, a phone call :-) Merry Christmas to all of you and your families.
If you're planning on attending the Meet & Greet the night before PIR. Please RSVP here:

Steve, keep your fingers crossed that they let our boys call home for Christmas ! From what I've read, there's a very good chance so keep your phone with you at all times. And, they're on week three of training, sometimes they let them call home after week three, but still not guaranteed. They keep them super busy. I know it's hard, I'm struggling too..... I just keep telling myself, no news is good news ! Keep writing him lots of positive / encouraging letters, they really do make a difference and help them push through :-) Fingers crossed we all get a phone call on Christmas !!!
