Thanks Jim for the info regarding PIR, my son listed me and his dad but not his step-dad, haha !  I included all that info in my letters, so hopefully he adds him sooner rather than later.

Hi Steve, hang in there...im sure you'll hear something soon. its hard, I know. They keep them super busy so Sundays are usually studying and catching up. I'm sure you'll hear something soon. We're all here to support each other, so keep us posted. Also, since our sons are in the same Div / ship whats his name ? My sons name is Medairy, Thomas.  Hopefully they've had a chance to meet and helping each other push forward :)

This is helpful to know that there are only three guests per sailor. I was wondering about that. Here's why, we received a letter from our SR son showing his grad date, our password, and the guests that he wants there. He had listed my wife (mom), his Oma (grandma), and I (dad), leaving the fourth line blank. Since his grandpa (mom's dad) could not make it to PIR, we thought that he would have had his GF on the list. Thanks again for the info.

I received my first letter from my son, started out positive, he was getting ready to take his first PT test and hoping to pass so he would be promoted to E2.  As the letter when on I could tell that he's home sick, and wanting to make sure that if he was delayed in graduating or didn't make it we wouldn't be disappointed in him.  I know these are all normal emotions, I know he'll work through them. Just hard to hear. My son is very hard on himself, pushes himself and not a quitter so I know he'll get pass this.  He'll be starting his third week, so hopefully they'll be busier and less time to think ! For me, I'll continue to write my daily, positive letters of encouragement !

We are staying at the Navy Lodge. Good rates, seemed nice, and close. Still trying to adjust to the first Christmas in 22 years without our son at home. My wife has handled all this better than I have but it seems to get better everyday. How any parent could ever abandon or not play a part in their children's life is beyond me. My son is 22 for Gods sake and I cry like a baby every day because he is gone. My daughter calls me a wimp. My wife is right though that I have to let him fly from the nest and make his own future. This Navy Dads website has given me comfort and peace. Thanks to all who make it happen!

Hi Steve & Rodney !!  YAY, two new people, I was starting to wonder if I was the only one with that graduation date, hahaha !!! 7 weeks and counting !! I'm sure our SRs are going great :-)

Are you booked at the Navy Lodge or another hotel ?  I'm sure you've read about PIR Meet & Greet hosted by Sarge.  There's another group for that, "PIR Meet and Greet on 01-28-16".  I'm looking forward to that, it'll be nice to meet the other parents.  There's tons of information on this site, it's been a huge help for me.  As I come across helpful tips and things regarding  PIR, I'll post them.

My son is in division 084 ship 04 and will be graduating that day as well. Made plane, hotel, and rental car reservations last night and we can't wait to see him!
