It's getting close to PIR gentlemen! We discussed it and decided we would meet up at Flanagan's for their meet and greet.
Here's a Google Maps link to Flanagan's: http://goo.gl/maps/eT92s
And here is the info on what's available there:
- Free appetizer buffet which includes:
- Free music and Karaoke starting at 8:00pm
- $10 Gift Certificate for navy graduates meal (steak and seafood included)
- You may use your $10 gift certificate you received from participating hotels (or ask for one when you come in) for dinner during or after the Meet & Greet at Flanagan's.
- $1 Domestic Tap
- $2 Import Tap
- $2 Domestic Bottle
The Meet and Greet will begin at 5pm each Thursday, or day before Graduation, and will end around 9pm.

We just got my son's first letter and on the return envelope is a different address than the one in the form letter. My son told us that "someone" said to use this new address. I wanted to be sure,…Continue

Hey guys, the meet and greet event I posted was taken down by the site admin because it is not an officially sanctioned event, which is fine. There are good reasons for it, but I'll not get into that…Continue

Paul, Thanks for the quick response. Our flight is scheduled at noon out of Midway and my son mentioned in his letter yesterday about donig something on Saturday. My wife wanted to get our flight changed so we could spend more time if allowed. We are still in the process of confirming what he said about Saturday. I believe his "A" school will be in Florida.
unless he is staying at Great Lakes for A-school, he'll ship out Saturday....probably very early so no liberty. You are correct you cannot provide transportation to the airport for him, but if you are there when he checks in you can get a pass to stay with him at the gate for awhile. He will have all the info for you at PIR when you see him
My son Jason is in Ship 04 Div 822, does anyone know if they get liberty on Saturday after PIR? My understanding they only got it Friday after PIR until 8 or 9. I believe most of the kids ship out the next day and you are not allowed to take them to the airport, you can meet them there only.
Hopefully will get a chance to meet as many of y'all as i can. Driving up on Thursday the 11th. Be about a 10-12 hr drive. Somebody please bring an extra box of tissues, I might need them, you know those darn allergies or is it the bright lights. Hang tough everybody as it is 13 days and a wakeup.
We also got a phone call on Saturday followed by another one immediately afterwards due to them getting more time.
Yep, 2 weeks from today. I will leave here the Wednesday night before. About an 18hr ride for me. I've been getting on average, a letter a week. Usually on a Thursday. The last one I got from my daughter said Hell Week was fun...the swimming was boring even though it was cool to jump off the platform. They were starting fire fighting this week. She also said that so far time has flown by but now, getting to the end it is dragging. She said she is also leaving 2am that night/ Saturday morning for "A" school. She's a Nuke...counting the days............Looking forward to meeting everybody Thursday night
Can't believe that 2 weeks from now we'll be attending PIR. Our SR was actually able to call home last Saturday and he sounded very up beat and positive. Like Jeff was saying, we could also see quite a difference from what came through with his earlier letters. I have no doubt that he will make a great Sailor. See you all on the 12th.
Jay, believe me, I have had that post cocked and ready to go for a loooooong time! lol! But, who's counting? :-)
Dang Terry you beat me to it. Looking forward to PIR
Got another letter from my son today! He says Div 948 is coming together more and more as a team.
He said they double-timed it over to the Pearl Harbor (the in-processing ship) for their ID pix and saw the fresh incoming recruits and thought it was funny to see what he looked like on day 1. :-) Sounds like he has undergone a remarkable change - he has grown up a LOT in just a few weeks! I am one proud Navy Dad!
