It's getting close to PIR gentlemen! We discussed it and decided we would meet up at Flanagan's for their meet and greet.
Here's a Google Maps link to Flanagan's: http://goo.gl/maps/eT92s
And here is the info on what's available there:
- Free appetizer buffet which includes:
- Free music and Karaoke starting at 8:00pm
- $10 Gift Certificate for navy graduates meal (steak and seafood included)
- You may use your $10 gift certificate you received from participating hotels (or ask for one when you come in) for dinner during or after the Meet & Greet at Flanagan's.
- $1 Domestic Tap
- $2 Import Tap
- $2 Domestic Bottle
The Meet and Greet will begin at 5pm each Thursday, or day before Graduation, and will end around 9pm.

We just got my son's first letter and on the return envelope is a different address than the one in the form letter. My son told us that "someone" said to use this new address. I wanted to be sure,…Continue

Hey guys, the meet and greet event I posted was taken down by the site admin because it is not an officially sanctioned event, which is fine. There are good reasons for it, but I'll not get into that…Continue

Hello everyone! I'm new to the group and am glad I found it. My son is in Ship 14, Div 334.
@Jeff: Yes, looks to be the case...Groton will be his home for about 9 mos.
@Jay: :-) SECF is Submarine Electronics Computer Field. From what I understand, this covers 3 possible jobs - Electronics, Sonar Technician and Fire Control Technician. He is hoping for Fire Control.
@ Terry, having been surface all my career ican't fathom intentional sinking a ship(hehe). Actually just a litter tuber/surface ship rivally. Tubers i know always called us targets. What is SECF
Hi Dylan,
Welcome to the group! My son is in 948 (percussion), but no letters/calls yet. What does your wife do in 948?
@Jay: My son is SECF. He will be spending some time below the surface.
Hey everyone, my wife is in Ship 02 Div 948. Still no letters from her, has anyone else recieved any letters from their SRs in that ship/div?
Terry, i sure will tell Amber everybody on Navydads is pulling for her. You will have to wait for rabbit season to open before i can get another lucky rabbits foot.
Tell your wife to try to have patience for i know you'll soon hear from your son.
What is your son gonna do in the navy?
@Jeff: Thanks for the advice to update our Navy Lodge info with our SR's name! I just called them to make sure and they said we are good to go.
@Jay: Can you ship me one of those rabbit's feet? :-) My wife is on NavyForMoms.com and she read one post where their SR is 11 days away from graduation and her SR has never gotten to call home other than the "I'm here". Remind Amber she has lots of folks pulling for her on NavyDads!
Terry i don,t know how i got so lucky, must be my lucky rabbits foot. I have to admit it was great I am so proud of her. I could tell she was homesick a little as she broke down twice.
Jeff how does one get to stay at the navy lodge. Is it on base or off?
Congrats on the letter, Tina! We still have not heard from our son, but we are patiently waiting - or at least I am trying to be patient. My wife is about to leave me for the mailman in hopes of getting the first letter just a bit sooner. :-) @Jay: how does one score a 20-minute phone call this early? Wow!
Got a 5 page letter from my son. He is good.Ruff staying up for 40hrs.
