I was hoping for Boston but San Fran is a city I always have wanted to visit! Looking forward to this. Although I know next to nothing about Commissioning I plan to be there and be as involved as possible.

Yesterday

We are happy to announce San Francisco will be our commissioning site. This decision brings us one step closer to joining the fleet. We still don't have the commissioning date yet, but will keep you posted. 

the talk is sometime around March. some of the ATI group will be going to "c" school for 5 months starting now.

I've asked the same question when my son on the Anchorage was in New Orleans pre-comm.

The command ombudsman should be able to give you an idea:

Sailors from PCU America's (LHA 6) Supply Department stand on the flight deck of USS Boxer (LHD 4). Over the course of a few weeks, America Sailors received hands-on training aboard Boxer. My son has seen this ship up close and was super impressed by it! Looks like a mini US aircraft carrier to say the least...
