Starbucks Opens First Shop Aboard Navy Assault Ship... Wondering if the Sailors get a…Continue

Hello All, has any heard about a $300 food allotment that the sailors we re suppose to get since the galley on the ship has been closed. Kevin mentioned it in one of his e-mails. I was just checking and it looks like his pay has actually gone down $100. I'm not sure if there is a "payroll" department that he can call. He keeps telling me there is no one to ask those kinds of questions. Any insight would be appreciated!
Welcome Joel
hello all when i was in the navy was stationed aboard the Boxer loved the ship
I just returned to PA after a short but great visit with my son, I wish I could have gotten two weeks off instead of one. He has another week before he has to get back to the ship. He`s still home visiting more family and friends. My brother and I were the only ones that knew. Surprised his sister at work. It was awesome.
Back on solid ground!! It was great getting on the ship and just as great getting off (ha ha)! I really enjoyed the opportunity to experince what Kevin's life was like for the past 8 months. There is no way in heck I could have done it! Maybe when I was 20 years old, but not now! I did see some thngs that I wish we could do for the crew:
Better selection of movies when off duty (how about Netflix for the whole ship)
Improved furniture in the "lounges". I know this is a working ship, but they still need a place to relax.
Another mess room. I know space is valuable, but having the sailrs stand in line for an hour is a bit much!
On board maintenance for the self serve Laundry. There are 12 washing machines on board, but only two are working! Kevin said they all worked at the start of the deployment. All the machines were from Maytag, they should have been able to provide some type of "spare parts" for them.
Better weather for the Tigers (just kidding). Cold and overcast in Hawaii, never heard of that before. Stading at the rail in San Diego and watching the sailors shivering!! Never thought I'd see that in San Diego!
All that said, this trip REALLY made me proud to be an American and the parent of a Navy Sailor!!!!
Aside to Kevin: Thanks for the "Plane Handler's Dad" jersey, I'll cherish it forever!!!
Bravo Zulu to the entire crew of the USS Boxer very grateful for their hospitality aboard during the Tiger Cruise you all went above and beyond! Job Well Done! I would also like to thank my Son ADANAW Liske thanks for making me a Very Proud Navy Dad!
