Chuck,

Cody is an "airframer" and it looks like he will be on Whidbey for some time.

For those unfamiliar with Whidbey island, it is a beautiful place.  A little gem nearby is San Juan Island.  You hop the ferry in Anacortes to Friday Harbor (beautiful hour plus ferry ride).  In the summer months, Orca whales can be watched swimming around the island with the best viewing at Lime Kiln State Park on the west side of the island.  In Friday Harbor, the only town on the island, you will find some of the best restaurants around and the locals are so friendly.  If anyone wants more details of the area, feel free to contact me. I am originally from the area.

What's Cody's Status?  Andrew is to leave in a couple of weeks for his second Detatchment this year.

Chuck,

My son Cody has taken in a game in Seattle and really enjoyed it. He loves Soccer and it was a great getaway weekend. There is a lot to do once the weather breaks a little and you get a round (if you have transportation).

Hi Carl,

Andrew was out to a soccer game over last weekend.  He was glad to be at the game.

We talked with our son last evening via text about the landslides. He is doing well and says the weather is something you have to adjust to... often. During our visit (December) the wind was coming in hard off the sound. I think most of the sailors hunker down until the weather breaks. My son is looking forward to milder weather for sure.

What's up with the Whidbey Sailors?

Jack my son is over there now. He is not in Bahrain, but he has living conditions just like Jim's description.  His has an air conditioned quarters and is able to rest out of the heat.  Andrew also tells me that the food is great.

Thanks Jim, we looked up the airbase on google maps and can see the Orions but saw what looked like tent city.  We heard rumors they were building new barracks and I know the sat image on google is a couple years old.  At least a ship is a ship and he would know what to expect.  but being land based.. I get more nervous as his deployment time gets closer.
