Does anyone know of the living conditions in Bahrain? My son is with P-3 squadron and will be posted at the Isa Airbase.  Just wondering if it will be nice barracks or tent city..  Thank so much.

Hey guys my son is with VQ-1 and is now on adetactment. He is due back after the first of the year.

My son just got back from Bahrain.  He is in the Patron 46 group.  I wont see him until April when he will be back East brofre his fial deployment.  Time goes by so fast he has been in the service 4 years already.

We are originally from Friday Harbor Washington and my son got assigned to VP-40 Fighting Marlins on Whidbey Island. He is so glad to be stationed back home and down the street from his grandparents in Coupeville.  He is awaiting deployment to Bahrain where his squadron is now.

Chuck and Mark,

My son is with 129th. He ran into a high school teammate of his who is in the same squadron. It is a round old world. We are planning a visit in December and look forward to seeing the base, island, etc. Navy Dads was very helpful early on and it's helpful to "talk" with other other Dads. My wife has a high school friend that is career Navy and settled on Whidbey.

My son is with VQ1.  But he currently on a detachment.  Otherwise I wold refer you to him. He is a member of this site.

Hey Frank, My son is also Stationed at Whidbey, deployed right now.  He's at the other Dep Site.  We're planning on going up there once we find out when they return.  Are you a facebooker?? The 46th has 2 great pages ...... one for families and one for the squadron.  They have put up ton's of pictures of the deployment.

I have not commented until now as my son just arrived at Whidbey approximately 3 weeks ago. He is still adjusting, but has had very positive feedback. I plan to visit in December, any suggestions for places to eat, things to do, etc?
