Thank you so much for such a warm welcome. Jonis has been in the Navy about 2.5 yrs now... He's in his second time in Japan... The first time he was on the USS Kity Hawk & was lucky enough to be part of that decom crew & now he's on the USS Blue Ridge... The flag ship of the 7th fleet.... All in All he's really enjoying his time in the Navy...
I just want to thank you for such a warm welcome. Michael has been in the Navy 22 months. He is now been deployed for 5 months. I will be
joining his ship on a Tiger Cruise in a few months. I can't wait to see him.

Thank you, Paul, for a cheerful welcome! I tried to find this on Navy4Moms but could not and I am not familiar with some abbreviations. You have written down for your son and daugher the following: one is CVN-71 and the other is CVN-72. What does CVN stand for and the significance of the numbers? I have not heard of these before. (I am sure there is a lot I have not heard of before, but this is a start). My son is waiting for orders (which a mom said could be a while). He is now in Goose Creek, SC Thanks in advance for your reply on the initials/numbers and have a relaxing night. Dee
Thank you Paul for the warm welcome. My son is on the USS Nimitz. I also have a son-in-law just finishing up a stint in the Blue Angels. Not sure where they will end up next. My 21 year old son in the Army is in Iraq. Have to say lots of prayers! Nice to find this site--thanks Sailor Moon!
Bren
Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I look forward to making new friends here and sharing our experiences and knowledge with each other. I am very proud of my Sailor and Marine for making this decision to serve this great country of ours. God Bless America.
Jackie
Thanks for the welcome and thanks for letting us girls join too. It's nice for the dads and guys to have a place to talk as well! I will definately brag and keep updates on my brother. He still home, but not for long. Anyone know or heard of his job? He's currently a gunners mate, but when he gets deployed to Afghanistan his job is amunition handler. Sounds very scary to me.
Hi
I think you are the person to ask the question, we are going on our first Family cruise on the carrier and I am wondering what to expected. I the site and pictures are terrific, thank you for sharing them
Thanks for all your info, I enjoyed watching all the videos.
I read something about not to bring a hard suitecase, but to bring acollapsible duffel bag. Is that true, I can't carry a duffel bag......I need wheels..
I ordered a duffle bag today, it's 30" I hope it's large enough. You know us
women and our clothing........
I posted some picture of my sailor if your interested..
thanks for the book idea...however I know pretty much all there is to konw about the Franklin and what the crew went through. You might want to see if you can get your hands on a video called, "The Ship That Wouldnt Die"..its a documentary done with the survivors of the Franklin that were alive at the time. Plus I knew my uncle very well before he passed away of lung cancer.
Richard
When I land in Hawaii, what happens? Does the Navy pick me up at the airport
or do I take a cab to the ship. And do I need a pass to get in the gate? If so where do I get it?
SOrry so many questions. But I'm going alone so I'm getting stressed..
Dear Paul. Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for believing in our son and making the First Year what it is. Your dedication goes way beyond anything our son would have dreamed of. A Dad jumping right in and becoming the person you are. I can't call you his cheerleader, but I can call you a true friend to our son. And you are one who spreads the word of Navydads, {almost as much as Cindy and I} Lol Thank you Paul from the bottom of my heart. And, Congratulation on ya'lls first year!!!!
Hi Paul, When my daughter graduated from BC at Great Lakes it was the best day of life. When that door opened and all those sailors came marching in I cried. The feeling was awsome. We spent the whole weekend with her, and again we had to part. She is now in Pensacola, I am so very proud of her. She is on a two month wait for school to start. She would like to come home for a couple of days just to see her new nephew who was born four days after she left for BC. We send a lot of pictures to her of the baby but its not the same as seeing him. I worry about what she is doing being she is on a two month wait. She complains how hot it is there. I tell her we are complaining how cool it is here in NY. I have to work a 12 hour shift tomorrow so I wish all you dads a very happy fathers day.
First off.. Happy fathers day..
Second... I am a member also of www.navyformoms.com
I just can't get enough of the Navy. My son went in 8-8-08. And is currently finishing up STS School up in Groton. Should be finished end of July. Past that.. as you know... Dont know base assignments nor orders as of yet.. Rumor has it very soon.... I'm very proud to be part of both web sites! I didn't realize I hadn't finished my registration back last year when we were told about this site from catherine the Previous admin... Plus, we like your chat better lol rofl
Paul I just have to thank you for your very nice letter. I can only imagine how proud you must feel having two serving for us. As the time grows near for Zach to ship out I am getting a little apprehensive, but I have to admit I am one of the proudest people in town.
I work maintenance at the local collage, and you can't believe some of the comments I have gotten about Zach joining the Navy instead of attending our local collage. I tell them I have to let him cut his own path to his future, and I am proud he chose the Navy as a starting off point. They just don't get it.
Again thanks for your time, and I am looking forward to being a long time member of NavyDads.
Good morning, While I was in Great Lakes attending my daughters graduation, we spent alot of time together site seeing. I would like to share this one expeicense with you all. We were in a mall, a young girl I would say she was around 10 years old, she looked up at my daughter and said thank you for serving our country. It meant so much to my daughter and I. I asked if I could take there together and was thrilled. I have this picture hanging on my wall.
At least now with my daughter in P-cola we get to talk to each other because she has her cell phone. Again yes I am very proud of her and everyone else kid that is serving our country.
Thank you for the welcome. My son has been medicaly discharged he is home with us with pneuima. he had it twice. so we are getting him back to normal and seeing doctors. He can go bak in in 12 months.
Thank you for the warm welcome.Paul are you a Vietnam Veteran ? If so what branch of military did you serve in? Yes I do like to brag about son Justen. He is an Eagle Scout from a small troop in PA.His Boy Scout Troop keeps in touch with him by Email, letters, and care packages. He in turn helps them with his knowledge of scouting. As told E.G. I 'm retired Navy my wife Crystal is a Navy veteran. If you have an questions, concerns about your sailors please feel free to ask us.We may not know all the answers but we know where to go to get the answers.
Dave
Terry, Paul says you are a Vietnam Veteran what branch of the service did you serve in ? I was in the Navy stationed in Da Nang,Vietnam. Thanks for service and welcome home brother.Dave Mitchell
Thanks Paul for the warm welcome, my wife ( you know her as Carol) has been nagging me to join for over a year. Thought my son was doing a great job on his own. As she says, "One more member is one more link for Navydads.com Thanks for all your hard work. My son has a true friend in you, thank you.
Paul,
Thanks for your note! My wife says NavyDads is better than Navy4Moms! :) I appreciate the encouragement. My biological daughters are all females and none of them chose the military, so having my stepson enlist has been quite an experience. He has 3 weeks left in Bootcamp, and the letters we have received have been some of the most positive we have ever received/heard from him! I think the Navy is going to be great for him.
One of my son-in-laws is in Afghanistan with the Army Guard. He's been there for almost a year now, and is due home at the end of July.
I am very grateful for those, including my son, who put themselves in harm's way so we can enjoy our freedom. I am indeed a proud Navy Dad!!! :)
What's up with Eric and Kat?
We got Adam Graduated. Andrew did make it home for the graduation. How nice to have the entire family together for a week.
Andrew has wheels! He bought 2008 Cobalt. He likes it very much.
I had been encouraging Andrew to get to know some of the Marines on the base. He was not too keen on the idea. He has since met several of the Marines through the Singles program at the chapel. They have been sea kayaking and some other activities. He is also playing soccer for one of the squadrons. I feel good to know that he has company and activities to vary his time off work.
He is finally in the correct squadron as his returned from the Middle East in June. He tells me the work atmosphere is better. He likes his rating and the electronics work. Aviation ratings are personnel heavy making advancement rather slow and difficult. He is considering a rating change, but is not very serious about it just yet.
Andrew's last PT was quite a bit higher than the sqadron average and he was noticed by one of the officers for the high score.
EG and Paul- Bryan is now in Indoc over at the NTC where he is awaiting start of ATT. There are all kinds of rumors about long holds and we just hope the needs of the service don't loose the focus of the extremely talented bunch that graduated last week (June 26th). We were very impressed with the process and totally understood because of having visited and watched the videos you mentioned. They are very informatifve. THANK YOU ALL !
Hi Paul..Just thought i would drop you a short line.Hope you all had a great 4th.I will be putting a box in the mail tomorrow that will have a few cards in it..I tried to keep it under a thousand {:-)Actually more like 150.If you need more, let me know and i will get them to you.
Steve !!!!!!!!!
Hi Paul,
Thanks so much for your note. Chris was really psyched up for the Navy and I think he will be having a blast at boot camp. We have not yet received our call, but I'm sure we will receive it within the next day or so.
I have watched all of the videos on boot camp and we (our entire family watched them) found them to be very helpful and excellent quality. Chris is really into the Physical Training and will absolutely love the facilities they have there. While he is going into the AE program, his ultimate goal is to try out for the SEALs after he finishes college. He is actually in the Navy Reserves and has been accepted into Western Washington University...but his recruiting officer thinks he has a very good chance of getting an ROTC scholarship so if he does get that, then he will have to "resign" from the Reserves and go into the regular Navy. I think he would be fine with that and my guess is that he is going to really take to the Navy - we'll see.
Again, thank you very much for your very kind note and I will let you know how he is settling in. Oh, by the way, I have already "met" some folks on here who live fairly close to us and we have had a brief conversation. Lot of fun.
-George
Hi paul, thanks for the welcome, AND THANKS for your sacrifice wow two sailors how proud you must be, BUT how nerve wracking. I can'd get my four together on a normal year. and now that debbie's out who knows, although we do have some hope she'll make it back for her sister's wedding which would be wonderful. we've tried to do web-cam but she has to watch where she is and what tiem it is. hasn't worked yet for me, but her sister and her best friend from high school has each seen her once, it was grainy but it was better than nothing. in case you haven't heard i'm new at computors and e-mails, and web sites, but i'm giving this a shot. tell your kids THANKS from mommy phillips
Wow! 17 years in Battle Mountain! Care to share why? Good to know that there are others with a Nevada connection. Folks who come to the base here either hate the place or love it. The desert has a way of getting into your heart. That's one thing John misses. Not much desert in Guam.... nor seasons. He's looking forward to getting home in Sept.Excited to see how much the boy we sent off last July has grown into a man.
Great videos!
You have done a great job with this site. I will be going on a Tiger Cruise on 7/28/09 on the Eisenhower, CVN 69. The info this site provides has really raised my level of excitement on this upcoming event. You have done a great job. I just wish I found the site sooner. Bill
Thanks for the warm welcome Paul, I plan on using the site to my full advantage before and after I ship. Im sure Ill be more prepared because of it.
-Kristian
Thanks forthe site it has been invaluable to me during my daughters stay in boot camp. I have a suggestion, this site should be a haven for us Dads to come to to speak only of our sons and daughters in the Navy and not to try and preach our political ideals to everyone. A thread was opened about Rush Babies, Nany Moms learned early on that keeping politics and religion off of their site was best for all, there are plenty of sites for those types of discussions. This site should be to support the Dads of sailors, please let me know what you think.
Paul, thank you so much for the welcome and so sorry I have not been good at getting back with you. I tend to lurk and read and not comment much. This site is great for all involved in the military....be it Dads, moms, siblings, etc. I look forward to meeting more Navy families and learning all that I can. Please tell your sailor Thanks so much for their service. It is much appreciated!! Thanks again!
sorry bend lot of thing. you got to.in? if so wow. my girl Jamie is going ca. aug. 16. to do the navy good. she in now 9 years. was in Iraq balad. come in nov. so life gos on .
