Thank you! We have had very little contact with our son. He graduates April 16th and no phone calls yet. I don't understand why but I can only think sometimes no news is good news. He is training with Seal team so I guess they do things a bit differently. His friend was went through boot camp and was able to make a phone call after 3 weeks. I am very proud of him and am happy with the choices he has made. Thank you for reaching out to me.

Thanx for the greeting, I look forward to looking over the site....I'm so proud of my son graduating for the United States Naval Academy 06, and now an Officer on CVN75 which I must say he is very excited about being on board.

    Paul,

Thanks for the welcome, the video and the MUST READ link. This site looks great! It will keep me busy for quite a while.

Great suggestion Paul. That was really good to read. My son is only 18 and much of his group is 3+ years older. A lot of growing up in a short time. Many of my friends are retired Military Officers and they have echoed much of this. Been very reassuring.
    Thanks,

    Bob

    Paul,

So how is Kat enjoying the civilian world again? I'm just wondering if she's woke up the last few mornings feeling lost, gotta be a big change. Tell Kat, Cindy and I wish her the best in her next journey.
  • Mike

Thanks for the welcome. Our son arrived in GL on 4/15. Today we found out he was assigned to ship 11 div 212. I don't see where a group has been started yet for them. Sorry it took so long to respond - I don't use the computer all that often and when I do my wife types for me - lol!

Hey Paul, how's life treating you. My Sailor is busy doing his 6 months of schooling. He is going to be graduating in June and will be part of the second squadron to work on the new P8 which are taking over the P3-Orions. He's settled in and we are blessed that he is 4 hours from home. My Navy Pride has not diminished one bit, just praying for a Hell of a lot better Commander in Chief. Take good care and God Bless. Luis
  • Cindy

Still love this page Paul...even though it took you forever to create.
  • Garrett Yuenger

Thanks Paul I appreciate it... Will is graduating on May 14th and I am looking forward to it.. The Navy is strong on my side of the family as well as my wifes.. Thanks again
  • Cheryl

Thank you Paul for your help! I thought that if someone showed that they were online that you could ask a question and you never know what time zone someone might be in! So I tried! But thanks anyway! Just one of many sleepless nights as we await our PIR date of 5/14/10! The question was about Battlestations, my son said it would be on week 6 day 5, and I wanted to know if that would be the Thurs. the week prior to PIR date? Anyway I think we figured it out, unfortunately I don't think we will get to talk to our sons before BS to find out for sure!
  • Cheryl

This is a great page BTW! :)

Thanks for the information... We will check on shuttles, with some reservation, my wife and her parents both have had knee(s) replaced or are awaiting lthe procedure. It often hard for them to board a train or shuttle, if time is of the essence. But we will check on their status and if they are handicapped friendly.
    Bill A.
  • Billy L. Alex (Bill)

Thanks...we spoke with one the personnel with the Public Affairs Office at the RTC. They advised us to advise the personnel at the gate about the handicapped individuals and they would have personnel and wheelchairs called in to take the three individuals to the take them to the PIR location and get them located in the right seating area for our sons division.
we'll see if it is truly that easy.

Hello, I thought I would stop by and say Hello.

I understand the confidentiality of information concerning special ops. All that I'm concerned with in my story is that in scenes involving the SEALS "on the job" is that my terminalogy.slang and other references are accruate and up to date. I don't want to be so specific that it jepardize anything or anyone.
  • James Edward Hicks

Thanks - He will be graduating from great lakes this Friday. My family can't wait to see him and am very proud.
  • John Y

Good morning Paul. That would be just fine with me if you combine my forum post with Larry's must read. Hope you have a great day. John
  • Dan Sullivan

Brag about my son? Okay, he's been at the Defense Language Institute for only three months studying Arabic. He is doing such an outstanding job that his LPO asked him to start tutoring. Two months prior to that, he was moved into a nicer and newer living facility reserved for 'squared-away' sailors.

The life really suits him well. He gripes about this and that but overall, he absolutely loves it and is fiercely proud of his beloved Navy.
  • Chuck

Happy memorial Day. Will either of your two be home.
  • Scott Gould

I drop off my son at the Recruitment Office today for his journey to the Great Lakes Naval Academy. I am very proud of my 6'-9" son, but as big as he may be he is still my little pride and joy. I am a single dad and have raised my son his entire life. He is all I have and it is devastating for me to see him leave. I am having a very hard time. I can't look into his bedroom, because he is no longer there. I am overreacting,or is this what every parent goes through.

He's building a dream the way of the navy.I love my son very much and very proud of him, I know you will help my son build his dream.Proud of him to be able to serve the country thru the navy.Incidentally, my eldest son is also serving in another branch of the military and very proud of him too.THANKS.
  • Cody B Geho

  • Chuck

    Hey Paul,

    What's up???
  • Chuck

Yes Paul, I saw him somewhere. We were able to visit him in April and take this picture. That was the best.
Andrew is in the same boat as Eric, passed but not advanced. He has seen some young men advanced to third class and the still come to him for instructions on how to do the job. He is disappointed that people who test better and advance, but still do not know their job. I guess that happens everywhere.
As of last week Andrew is still on the flight line. He was told that he is to be moved back in to the AE shop. That hasn't happened yet. I get the impression that he is ready to get back to doing what he signed up to do.
Best to Kat and the fall school. Is she still in the northwest?

    Jim,

Thanks so much for the welcome note. Happy belated Father's day to you as well.
Bryce has just entered his second week . I'm confident he will do great. He's strong in body, mind and spirit.
I believe the Navy will enhance all three. As a former Marine and Air Nat'l Guard , I know first hand what changes can and most likely will occur. I'm looking forward to an even greater young man going forward.
Thanks again for the welcome. OH, I spent over 3 hours on the site when I found it this past Monday ! Absolutely OUTSTANDING !

  • Geoffrey M. Rhines

Dear Paul, Thank you for the welcome to the Navy Dads site! Our son, Karl, is an SNA at NAS Corpus Christi. He just finished Primary Flight School and his Selection Day is this week...very exciting stuff!! Based on his platform, we'll know where his next duty station will be. To honor his service and other members of the fleet, we fly the First Navy Jack at our home alongside the National colors. It's a great reminder that our son has chosen to be in harm's way for us and our freedoms. Thanks again for your support, Geoff
  • DALE TRAYLOR

Thanks for the kind welcome to the website. I am hoping that others have loved ones at OCS in the class of 20-10 which is where my youngest Mark is at as of 20 June. He has not been able to communicate with us since his arrival there, except one brief phone call and a very short email.
We have been through OCS once before, two years ago, our oldest son, Daniel, went through, so we know the routine, although they change things some since, so not sure how long before will hear from Mark again. We keep hearing that no news is good news.

Daniel our oldest, is an NFO in P-3's , VP-8 at NAS JAX. We live nearby there so we get to see him often. Although he is gone to Pensacola this weekend to visit his girlfriend whom he met while stationed out there last year for NFO training.
  • Marlin S.

    Paul,
Thank you for the welcome here and thanks very much for all of the great info. Congratulations to your son and daughter for their decision to serve their country, and congratulations to you as well. I understand how proud you are of them. I went to the OPSEC link and read the information there and understand the rules fully. I will take time tonight to read through the MUST READ link that you posted for me. Gage arrived in Chicago tonight and I was able to talk to him briefly before he headed to the base. I think he's gonna do great. He's motivated and ready to go. Thanks again and hello to all of you proud Navy parents out there.
  • Marlin S.

    Hey Paul,
You put a video up for me to watch, but I wasn't able to view it. Maybe you could re-link it for me or tell me where to go to view it. I have a brand new computer running Windows 7 so I usually don't have any problems viewing video. Thanks.
  • Marlin S.

Thanks for re-posting the video. Still can't watch it. Must be a problem on my side.
  • Marlin S.

That worked. I was able to watch the video. Very informative and helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to get that link to me.
  • Laron

Thank you for the kind welcome and encouraging words for my daughter and I. I am looking forward to filling my head with all kindsa knowledge in the upcoming months. It means a lot to know that there is a place to learn and relate to other parents in the same place in life as I..

Thanks Paul for the welcome aboard! This is a great site to be able to talk with other Navy Dads and follow the progress of our Sailors. Bravo Zulu to your son Eric and daughter Kat! They both seem to be doing so well. My son Alex just started ATT in GL and is anxious to get to A School. So proud of him, he loves his country and can't wait to join the Fleet. Best regards, Paul.

Thanks Paul, appreciate the comments. Tell your daughter thank you for her service. They do not hear it enough though we are all thinking it. Matt too is on the Lincoln. I will enjoy the site.
  • Robert Freeman

Thank you for sharing with us. Our son is the first in our family to journey in the Navy. I had one brother who served in VM but I was young when he served. The information you shared is great and thank you for letting me know.
  • HeatheRose

Thanks for the welcome, Paul. Our son is also the first in our family to serve in the military. I love these sites (N4M and ND) for information when the communication between our sailor and us is sparse! :)
