My father joined Dec. 10 1941 was torpedod by U-518 spent 17 days in north atlantic seas in november / December in a lifeboat "Tough Sailor"

Was US Caddo was sunk by U518. Sub surfaced put deck gun on lifeboat ,Hitler had given orders to shoot survivors, was a guy on dads boat named Otto spoke German talked to Sub Captain. He said God Bless your souls , disobeyed Hitler! two boats got off ship 17 in each, one never seen again dads overturned twice second time not enough men left to right it. was picked up by Spanish merchant ship Monitor on this date

75 years ago today 11/23/42 my Dad was rescued after 17 days adrift on an overturned lifeboat in N.Atlantic after German Sub attack
