Brian was so tired when he called because he said they had been up from 8 that morning as well as the time spent going through battlestations. He  called around 18:00 and was soon going to bed at 20:00 , which he couldn't wait for.

                          He said that he didn't have any trouble with his physical training test. He was in good shape before he went in anyway due to the recruiters keeping him on point early on.

                        We asked him what he wanted to do , and  he said all he was wanting to do was rest and hangout. One of the sailors is probably going to be alone due to his mother not being able to be there for graduation, so we are going to take him with us as well.

                     I plan on taking lots of pictures and will post them on this site as soon as I can.

WE HAVE A SAILOR! My wife said I guess this is we have a sailor call and he said this is it. He has been up since 0800 monday morning and from his voice you could tell he was tired. He said everyone in his division 921 all 87 men were going to graduate. He said everyone worked as a team and really bonded. He also said he got a bravo zulu from the chaplain he was working with.

Graduation cannot get here soon enough!

John,  I know you were excited as we are now waiting to hear from our sailor. My wife is baking cookies ,Brian's favorite, chocolate chip and is making hot browns to take as well for lunch or dinner. If you don't know what hotbrowns are I will send you the recipie. They are very very good, but due to the calories have to portion what you eat.

                             We are staying at the resident inn in wakashah which is supposed to be fairly close to the base. What time did you have to be there to get good seating?  We are driving over with my daughter, her husband and our grandson who will have to be in a car seat thus reason for driving.

                       I am not sure when Brian will actually be flying out, but the Chicago visit sounds pretty cool. Where did you go and what did you end up doing.

John,  I hope everything went alright at graduation. Brian is going through battlestations as I write this comment. It is supposed to be from 8-8 and we will be waiting for the call tommorrow. Is there any pointers you can pass along to make this graduation even more enjoyable? We can hardley wait to see Brian again, even if only for a short time as he is flying out Saturday.

H00 Yah John I know you and your wife have to be pretty excited! My wife was on NavyMoms and found out that due to the large number of divisions 12 that they are scheduling the division the 900's that Brian is in for Apr. 05. He is in 921 and said they have to be on point all the time! He said he was going to be a changed person when he leaves this place, both physically and mentally. I guess that is an understatement.

We are are staying at the resident inn, with my daughter, son in law, and grandson and will be leaving Louisville, KY on the 7th. Brian will be leaving early on the 9th. to go to A school for 4-5 weeks and the he will be with the Marines for 4 weeks of bootcamp again. His rate is a RP which requires him to be proficient in both small arms and hand to hand combat. Idon't envy him  being with the Marines and going through their training, but Brian will probably look forward to the challenge.

Keep me informed about pir and what to do to make it an enjoyable event for us and our new sailor, and how the trip to the airport went as I am seriously thinking of doing the same thing even if it is 0300 in the morning.

John I hope everything is going along as expected with Sam's progress. Is he a sailor yet? Brian will be going through battlestations very soon, possibly this week. It sounds like it is a grueling experience , but part of the team development required by the Navy. It is 11 days and counting till we will see our son again . It is unfortunate that we will only have him for graduation day as he is leaving 0300 the next day for his A school.

Hi John,  just touching base to see how your son is doing. I know you can't wait to see him again, just as we are waiting to see our son Brian . Your time is getting a lot closer, so what are you doing to stay busy to reduce the anxiety level? We have only gotten 1 letter from our son Brian and 1 phone call which was 15 min or so in length. Brian is a great kid and I know he is very busy learning to be a sailor , but it would nice to hear from him.

When my son first enlisted in the Navy I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to his future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads but found out I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and hope this site will benefit fathers that follow behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. Welcome aboard John.
I would like to take this time to point you in some of the right directions. For starters if you haven't had the time take a look at the right side of any page you click on. There you will find some useful information for you. The links under the about this site will help you with how this site got started, navigation, PIR, About us, community guidelines and some links to some of the groups that beginners with a lot of questions will find very useful.
First and foremost though we are all here for the same reason. We are curious about what our young sailors are getting into and for more information about the rate or job that they will be doing for the next 4-6 yrs of their lives. I know when I first got here I had lots of questions and there was not a lot of people on this site but they all were either going through the same thing or had been through it and had sailors out in the fleet. Now this site has grown to over 2000 members, Dads, Moms,Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, sisters, brothers,girlfriends and boyfriends. Don't be afraid to ask questions of members in here because somewhere along the way we have all had the same questions and asked . There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site with various years of experience in the NAVY either on their own account or through their Sailors.
Again welcome aboard and BRAVO ZULU to you and your son Sam on his enlistment and please thank him for me for making the choice to defend the freedoms that my family, this country and I have and enjoy.
