Welcome to NavyDads Navy Pops! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun, useful, and educational as I have. Explore the site and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I certainly have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) returned spring '09 from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) is about to complete her five-year enlistment on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Navy Pops this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Cameron is doing! We do ask that you remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors in mind at all times. On the right side of every NavyDads page is an area we call About This Site. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link and the NavyDads Guidelines link. And stop by the NavyDads offical store- Navyoutfitters.com. Show your support for NavyDads by wearing the latest in NavyDads attire. Best Regards- Paul

Pops, Welcome Aboard!

My son is an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca. and my family and I couldn't be prouder of him. When he first enlisted I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that follow behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Cameron for his service for me and thanks again for joining us.

Sincerely, E.G.

Navy Pops "Cameron's Dad,
Our son is in A-school on test 6. He is one of 7 students out of the 120 students that got a C-school.
Welcome to the family. Our son was on hold in GL for two weeks before classing up. The school gave him an orientation the day he moved over to the Main base side from BC. This is where they will give him a text book to start studying. Everything they teach is read right out of the book, so tell him to read and remember. study study study is the key to success. They will do two pre class lectures on finance and a basic life saftey test, then class up. There are 12 test and several labs to pass before A-school graduation. 14 weeks for most after they begin class.
They must get 70% or above on tests or they fail and have to retake test. They are not allowed to fail more than two tests, so make sure he studies. The FMTB , FMF question is more difficult. All males are supposed to go to FMTB sometime after A-school. FMF is after FMTB if the sailor is going green with Marines, Not all will go green. Some classes all males go straight to FMTB, others go straight to fleet hospitals or C-schools. If your son had Algebra, Chemistry and some Science courses in High school or College and keeps his test average above 85%, then he stands a good chance to get advanced medical training in a C-school. Hope this helps .
Greg
