my son left for bootcamp august 12,2009 out of california. he arrived late that night. would his first day be 8/13? today is his 6th day there, he is wanting to become a hospital corpsman. can anyone tell me what my son will go through for the next year? which schools will he most likely go to? he does not want to go out into combat with the marines. instead he would like to work in a Naval hospital in the US. is that possible? thank you for helping me if you can..God Bless. Congratulations! I don't know much about corpsman but after graduation from RTC, he will go to his A School. It would be good to Google Navy corpsman A school and dig a little info out. He will have a 50/50 chance of being on shore duty or sea duty. He will then have a 50/50 chance of being overseas or US based. Most of it depends on his grades. The top 10% have a better chance of choosing their duty station so tell him to hit the books!

AdamsDad-

If you click this for link it should take you to the Corpsman group. There are some good folks there that should be able to help answer your questions.
