HAVE YOU CONSIDERED DRIVING IT TO HIM YOURSELF? YOU MAY FIND IT TO BE CHEAPER, IF YOU HAVE THE TIME. I'VE TRANSPORTED MOTORCYCLES IN A 26FT BOX VAN FROM CALIF TO D.C. TWICE IN THE PAST 3 YEARS FOR MY JOB. IT WAS CHEAPER THAN HAVING THEM SHIPPED.
IF YOU'VE NEVER DRIVEN X-COUNTRY, YOU OUGHTTA GIVE IT A SHOT. SURE, THERE AINT ALOT BETWEEN RENO AND NEBRASKA (I'VE DONE BOTH UPPER ROUTES -I80 AND I70) BUT IT HAD ALWAYS BEEN ON MY BUCKET LIST ANYWAY. YOU'D PROBABLY BE TAKING 40 ACROSS THE SOUTHERN ROUTE. I GOTTA DO THAT ONE SOME DAY.
TAKE A BUDDY/WIFE TO SPLIT THE WHEEL TIME AND YOU CAN DO IT IN 2 DAYS IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE THRU THE NIGHT. 3 DAYS IF YOU SLEEP OVERNIGHT. THEN FLY HOME. CRUNCH THE NUMBERS AFTER YOU GET A SHIPPING QUOTE AND ADD IN THE FACE TIME WITH YOUR SON WHEN YOU GET THERE. MIGHT BE WORTH IT.
I'M MORE THAN LIKELY GOING TO BE TAKING MY BOY'S CAR FROM CALIF TO NORFOLK IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND THAT WILL BE MY PLAN.
IF YOU DO, LET ME KNOW HOW THE 40 IS.
this is the group that handles all offical POV moves for the Navy.....when my son used them to move his SS from SD to Hawaii, there were very profesional and did an great job
Have you checked on www.uship.com
