Navy Dads

Greetings Navy family,

My daughter in law Desiree, is curently entering her last week of boot camp ( she is assigned to ship 11, div. 276 ). She graduates this coming Friday, Aug. 26. She is currently going thru battle stations., She has about 1:45 mins left. My son told me that all the recruits have to sign a non disclosure agreement prior to the exercise. Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to that. I am sure there are some things about the simulator that are classified, but will she be able to discuss her experiences with us after the fact.

Thanks!

Jeff

Being a fan of anything hi-tech, I asked my son about the ship simulator.  When I got specific in my questions, he got uncomfortable.  "It's very top-secret, isn't it?", I asked.  "Very", was his only reply.  From what I do know, the sim was designed by the Disney people and is a very accurate replica.  Fires, floods, and explosions on board are all frighteningly real.

Hannah,

Thanks for insight...makes perfect sense to me. I am an AIr Force Reserve officer, and we don't have anything close except fighter sims. Des had to stand watch from 0000-0200, then muster for the op. so I'm sure she's pretty beat today, but I'll bet it was a lot of fun at the same time.

Regards,

Jeff

Hi Ray,

Thanks for getting back to me!

I have seen the you tube videos, etc. I am guessing that there is something about the mechanics and the simulations programs that fall under the umbrella of operational security. It's now 2024 at Geat Lakes ( I am in so. calif. ). Hopefully she is done! can't wait to see what she says about it ( if anything ) after graduation on Friday. Have a great week and see ya aorund the fleet.

I have heard the same thing but I have seen and learned A LOT by researching on line.
