Drydock Assignment, What happens to the sailors.

When my son gets back from his deployment his ship will be going into dry dock.  I am curious as to what happens to the sailors when this happens.  Are they moved to barracks, given shore duty, assigned to other ships or do they continue on the ship and continue as usual?

The video are really cool would love to send them to my sailor.  Is there anyway to put them on a DVD or Micro Chip to send them?

Number of years ago I posted a series of Videos about the Nimitz when it was in Dry Dock- might check them out: http://www.navydads.com/video/video/search?q=Dry+Dock

I suppose it also depends on the extent of the repairs and updating that will be going on.  Do the sailors get involved in the repairs or is it all done by private contractors?

Potentially all of the above tho in most cases they move into barracks and help with the maintenance cycle.  My son worked in LIFAC (Light industrial facility) and worked on a ton of doors and hatches....repairing and painting, etc..
