Navy Dads

The response to this was great. I never expected to have a welcome like this.
My son Wyatt is still in the very early stages of entering the Navy. He will go to his physical test and final enlistment next month. He hopes to be headed to bootcamp right after his high school graduation. Im am very proud of him. He was looking at going to the Coast Guard for the last couple of years. One of his football team mates enlisted in the Navy last year and came home a month ago and told Wyatt what he had seen and done. That was it for him, the Navy was his choice. He is very intrested in the SWCC or a Master at Arms. I think he is wanting to follow in the Law Enforcement area after the Navy. We will see.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Welcome Chuck! My son just finished his Battle Stations yesterday, and is now just cooling his heels until Passing in Review and Graduation this coming Friday, January 21st.  He then heads to Lackland AFB in San Antonio the same day as a Grad and Go.  That's the location for the Master at Arms A School.  If Wyatt still harbors that dream, I may be a brain to pick, since I plan to pick my son Chris' brain on all the details.  In any case, this site is a great resource, and a comfort once Wyatt leaves and the umbilical cord is cut!

Chris was a wrestler in HS, and according to his letters that really made a difference in his acclimating to the Physical Training aspects of basic training.  Your son's athletic experience will also stand him in good stead.

Chris entered via the DEP, Delayed Entry Program, and it was great at answering questions and preparing him for the culture shock of military life and structure.  He entered boot camp with a head start on knowing ranks and ratings, and watch orders, and other topics.  Wyatt might consider that as well.

I wish you good luck, and any questions in the future, feel free to bring them to this site!
