Navy Dads

Today my only child leaves for Great Lakes he will arrive tomorrow. I'm very proud, and also having a hard time with it. I guess this is normal.

Yes he is, I pray for your sailor and mine. They are doing great, and we trust in the Lord

Jim as a father going through his second trip in from the U.S. Navy taking a son to RTC I can tell you that the next 8 weeks are going to fly by in no time at all. Ethan left on the 6th for RTC and is now  2 weeks in, just 6 weeks to go. It feels like just yesterday we went to the Hotel, checked him out and took him for 1 last family dinner before he becomes a U.S Sailor in the greatest Navy inthe world. I would suggest that if the hotel isn't to far away swing by and take your SR out fro one last dinner.

4pm EST his recruiter came, talk about having your heart ripped out. I know this is the best thing for him and nothing makes me prouder. Thank you Mark for you post it means alot to me. I hope getting kicked in the stomach goes quickly......

I'm right there with ya Jim. My son Brandon arrived at RTC (Recruit Training Cammand) on July 6th. First few days i would wake up feeling like i'd been kicked in the stomach. I slowly passes. You can look forward to getting a call by no later than 11pm tomorrow night letting you know he arrived there ok. About 15 secs is all it last. In about a week you will recieve a letter from the navy giving you his address to write and ship # and division. In that letter your son/daughter?, will right you three lines. Then at about three weeks another phone call that is considerably longer. Thats what i'm waiting on now!!! From this point it gets easier for your sailor. Hope this helped you answer some questions you may have. Proud of our Sailors!! Good luck Jim.
