Hey Chuck, been painting and haven't been able to do much computin'. I have to agree that you learn alot more in the fleet.I dont know alot about subs, but above sea level,a lot of the stuff was ship specific. I was a BM and spent my whole time a destroyer tender.I learned alot on the job about all of our equipment, swab, paintbrush, broom, neverdull, ect. lol, but I would have been lost in the gator navy for a while. I guess that is why they have BM-A school now. I know it would have helped my old chief, most questions were answered with "go look in your book". He spent most of his time on tug boats, needed a map to rig a fueling station, but boy could he drive a boat.

Chuck, I watched that and a lot of other vidios ,and your right. This is a whole new navy bootcamp.San Diego had two sides to it, some days it seemed like a 5mile hike to chow.I like the self contained ships, more like the real thing in a way. If you would have told 20 years ago when I got out that they would have Boatswainmate"A" school, I would have laughed, who knew.

Chuck, Buck is in his second week of bootcamp. I guess he is doing fine, we have only recieved the form letter with his adress, and the box of clothes he wore to RTC. He did say he missed his own bed at the bottom of the page though. When he called to let us know he had arrived at RTC, he sounded kinda down in the dumps, and said they had already been yelled at. His day at MEPPS started at 0330, and I'm sure he was pretty tired,as he had been up for 18hrs. at that point. We told him we were very proud of him and that it would get better after p-days , and he said I hope so.We are hoping to get a letter soon, but in five weeks of summer camp, and four summer church work camps, we recived grand total of one postcard. His sister probably wrote that one for him anyway.Hope Andrew gets to see alot of Hawaii. I made four trips there, and they were all to and from my two west-pac cruises. We stayed long enough to feul up, and then leave. My dad came back on a tiger cruise in 88 and saw more of the island than I did.

Chuck he is doing well. He finally moved off the ship and into an apartment. So he is pumped about that. He married my new daughter in law (Cayla) this past Friday so I'm sure he's pretty excited about that also. They are back and forth at sea preparing for their next cruise. So he is settling in nicely in sunny California. Thanks for asking. So how is Andrew liking Hawaii?

Thanks for the info. Sounds like there is a lot of things to do there. Pcola has just been pretty boring for Zac. I hope he will get out and enjoy the area while he is there. He is not one to get out and try things without some prodding.

Chuck he's good. They're at sea doing exercises to work out the kinks before going on their next cruise which will be around May. He tryed sliding down the stairwell the first couple of days out and failed. Busted up his ribs pretty good. They should be back in tomorrow. Other than that, they will start going to sea for a week or two pretty regularly to get ready. He finally moved off the ship and into an apartment so he's pumped over that. So how's Andrew liking Hawaii?

That's good that he seems to be getting it worked out. I'll let my son know to keep an eye on his vacation time. With that many salors there is bound to be some mistakes.

Things sound like there going. I have got 3 letters now so that has been nice. We have started making arrangments go to PIR. The time for me is starting to go by pretty fast.
How is your Andrew doing? Did he ever get the transportation issue worked out?

You know, it's been pretty quite...

Kat flew back to Indiana as the media rep from the ship with the Captian and CMC-- they were accepting a quilt made in honor of Lincoln's birth 200 years ago that was being given to the carrier...waiting for the article on the internet she wrote so I can post...other than that not much new in Everett....Kat decided to try contacts so we're seeing how that is working out.

eric is ready to get back to the states...as I gather are 5000 of his shipmates. And he is pretty emphatic about that as well!! Lots of e-mails back and forth about Tiger Cruise without him saying much that owuld pose a security risk.....and I got to do his taxes...fun with 8000 miles between us and a dozen time zones.....

Am looking forward to the cruise! Have a few other members that will be on it with me so we'll have a mini NavyDads meet-and-greet the day before! Looking forward to it BIG TIME !!!! Delete Comment

Things are going well Chuck. Thanks for asking. Today was a big day I got a letter from him and the Graduation info. He was able to use the phone and call his girlfriend. He told her that everything was going very well. He passed his first physical test easily. On Monday he got his Wisdom teeth pulled.

A set of wheels will make life much more pleasant for sure! Having to rely on others for transportation can really be a PITA!!! Prayers that all works out! Paul
