Thank you so much Cindy. Your responses are always so warm. Can't wait to read what Evan said. I was surprised to find Morgan's PIR packet in the mail today. I'm starting to make reservations now. Now I'll be watching my blingyblob even closer. Our youngest is going to be so sick of hearing me say..."Hey Kelson! 1 month, 4 days...,"! He already says "that's nice." He says he's just going for the plane ride. I hope by the time PIR is here, he'll be happy to see Morgan. They were never close (little over 4 yrs. between them). Oh, how I miss Morgan. It seems forever and a day since I've seen him. So is EG on the board for highschool football?
A 3 yr old. My niece exhausts me after a few hours! Then again, if she were my child, it would be different. Cherry Grace knows I'll do anything for her!
That's so cool about the Ask a Sailor group. I'll definitely check that out. I had a ton of questions for Morgan. Now I can give him a little break and Ask A Sailor instead!
Morgan as always been a very shy quiet kid. He said he talks to about 7 - 8 guys in his group. They've lost 6 and now there's been fights breaking out in the barracks. He thinks it's the alpa male thing starting! I know he's just sitting back smiling and thinking how dumb it is.
I'm hoping that he'll be a little more assertive when he graduates, but at the same time, I still want to see my quiet kid who has a heart of gold! That's not asking much is it?
Well hello miss smarty pants:)and thank you. I know I'm not a navy dad, but I figure there's a wealth of information and support on/for both sites. I love it and am glad to join up. Our sons PIR is on 08-08-08 so I'm in countdown mode...29 days :p
Hi Cindy, nice to meet you. I was quite surprised to get a friend invitation from Luis to join. I decided why not, it's a great way to get a Dad's/male perspective on things, other than my husband's! He's an ex-Navy guy (2 yrs in early '70's), so the answers I get are not always what I want to hear or expect! How old is your daughter? I have a 2 1/2 yr. old niece that knows she has her Aunt Cindy wrapped around her whole body, now just her little finger! However, God knew what He was doing when He blessed me with two boys. I was very much a tomboy growing up. I would've had no clue, whatsoever, how to play with a girl! I can imagine what it was like to have your son home. I'm sure the other 3 loved it as well being so far from their homes. Like you, I would've tried to stay up with them and then crashed after they left. Morgan lived in Seattle, but we saw him enough (we live in Boise, Idaho) in the 10 months he was there that it was becoming easier to say goodbye at the airport. He seems a continent away now. I was going to say goodbye but I did think of a question. Did your son change after BC? I know that Morgan will be more mature and self-assured, but I'm afraid that the Morgan I know and love will be gone.
Cindy - That is great for Evan :). Wes also has his girlfriend close by so he will see her I'm sure as often as her mom will drive her up. I talked to Wes' recruiter today, I had lots of questions but of course his cell signal wasn't good :(. The recruiter did say when he talks to Wes again he is gonna tell him to call him mom more lol.
Oh yes I was just glad to touch him again too! It had been since Thanksgiving '07 since I seen him last. That is wonderful if he can come home this weekend, apparently you all live close to A-school. I am over 13 hours away from Wes but it is okay I can't be a mother hen with him lol he won't allow it now since he is a Navy man. He will however get to spend a lot of time with his girlfriend since she is only 3 hours away and that is important to these guys. Thanks for letting me share a piece of your world :).
Cindy - Thank you for your kind words :). Glad to see you joined! I wished, since we were so close to each other at the mall and didn't know it, we could of met in person. We stayed at the Ramada Inn in Waukegan also where I met several other mothers/dads from the same ship 11 but not all in the same division. Where did you all stay?
