Thanks for the email sir, and be sure to tell both of your kids THANK YOU!! from the Shelton family. We will pray for your son and daughter. David is my only son and is doing amazing, and living through the normal bumps I assume. I do have some questions and will join the chat and boards to get the answers I need.
Thank you! Very glad to have found this site. It has been very helpful to us, and our daughter. We are excited, and nervous, but mostly very proud that she has chosen to serve her country. We do have a question that we are hoping someone might have some insight on. She is scheduled to leave on October first which would put her graduation the week of Thanksgiving. We obviously want to attend graduation, but there is some uncertainty on the exact date of the graduation given the holiday week. This is making it very difficult to book flights, hotels, etc. The question is, is there a regular routine that week? Will they modify the graduation date due to the holiday? If anyone could shed some light on that it could be very helpful. Her recruiter has said she won't find out until a few weeks in and if that is the case, flights are going to be sparse by then, and very expensive.
Thanks for the welcome. My son is a Chief and will join the Carl Vinson at some point soon. I was l0oking for info on the ship and found this site. I am not all that computer savvy but would like to feel a part of some navy community, especially when the temps strat dropping here in Upper Michigan.....
Thanks for the kind welcome Paul! Yup, I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of bragging here. I'm an ex-Navy (RM) as well but I know a lot has changed since that time.
Thanks again and wishing you and yours well!
Tom
Thank you all for the help, understanding the Navy is hard for parents. My son has been at boot since July 22,2014 ,I received a call from him on the 2 of July Saturday morning. He seems tired but striving thru it. Need help understanding the routine. Thank you
Paul, thank you for putting together this greeting. I'm sure it's been said hundreds of times, but it means a lot to us new parents to the site. Thank you. Jeff W
Thank you for the info., warm welcomes and all that you do! It can't be easy staying up with all the new family members & postings. We got the call yesterday and our baby boy is no longer a baby boy, he's a US Navy sailor now. Can't wait to meet some of the other families @ Sarg's tonight and PIR tomorrow. I've received orders from my wife and daughter-in-law that we are to be in line at 05:30 for premium seating. Thanks again and congrats to all who got that call! Rick Dunn
Paul,
Thank you for the warm welcome and for all the time and effort you have put into establishing this resource for the benefit of all of us new Navy parents. I have spent considerable time perusing the site and already feel significantly more knowledgeable about this journey than I did even after speaking with her recruiter at length.
