Welcome to RTC's confidence chamber! This chamber provides recruits with the opportunity to test out the Navy-issue M-50 gas masks that could save their lives in a CBR environment in order to build confidence in their protective gear. They also experience the effects of tear gas and the strength of maintaining composure under duress.
Recruits practice CBR-D through hands-on learning, which means recruits will ‘train how we fight’. USS Chief’s staff of subject matter experts spend several days training recruits, covering topics ranging from basic damage control equipment to advanced shipboard firefighting techniques.
About 30,000 to 40,000 recruits graduate annually from the Navy’s only boot camp.
