Anyone know what graduation uniform RTC is in on April 15th, Blues or Whites???????
Dan,
I am pretty sure they will be in their Blues.
My son has a PIR of Oct 14, 2011. Any idea what the weather is like that time of year?
My daughter's PIR was 7 Oct '05 and I about froze....yes, I'm from Arizona, but grew up in the mountains....and standing in line to get into the chapel in 42 degree weather with the wind off the lake...I was chilly......or it could be a beautiful fall day...you never know.........
It's been three years now since my daughter's PIR -- yes you see suits -- sweats -- uniforms --
Wear what's comfortable for you and what your Sailor expects.
Maybe a tie-dyed miniskirt or a big green mohawk might be out of line -- but likely none of the other parents or sailors would care -- PIR is about our sailors committing years of their lives to serve in the navy -- not about what duds we parents show up in.
When the time came to cheer our state's Sailors -- suits sweats "business casual" -- we all cheered together.
Our son also has PIR 10/14/11. The NOAA.gov website has been the most consistantly "close" 7 day forecast available to us non-military folks. You can put the zipcode (60088) in the box at the top left of the page. As noted above, can be chilly on the Lake. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
We live less than 45 miles from Great Lakes, and as of this morning there is a massive, counterclockwise spinning low in and around Lake Michigan. It is cold and wet now, which usually clears up somewhat in the afternoon, which also doesn't help early 9 am graduation. That is typical for this time of year around here. My son's PIR is in early November, which I expect to be dryer, but much colder, 30's is typical.

I should also add that one of the most accurate meterologists is Tom Skilling at www.chicagoweathercenter.com, bookmark the site and check it out close to your PIR. "If your thinking of grilling, better ask Skilling."
I wanted to ask about that, if my younger son can get leave for his brother's PIR next month, if he could/should wear his uniform. I would love nothing more than to have the two of them side by side in their Blues! Don't know when they would be able to get together after this.
I have and unusual question that maybe some admin types out there might assist me with. I tried NavPersCen and Army Pers Center but not much help. NPC did provide the reg which helped a little. My situation is this. I did 4 yrs in the Navy then 19 in th Army where I retired. I was informed by NPC that I could wear my USN uniform with ribbons from BOTH services (Navy ones on top) with Army ones following. As for the rank, they and Army PersCen were not sure. They both "hinted" it wuld most likely be the rank I retired at in a Navy equivelant. Anyone ever has this kind of situation and what did you do? Thanks for any help.
Would a USCG Uniform be apropiate to wear to Graduation
Joseph....I would say ABSOLUTELY.....you earned it, wear it with pride!
